Yesavage’s Game 5: Seven innings, three hits, 12 strikeouts.

The 22-year-old rookie was nothing but dominant against the Dodgers, silencing a lineup featuring multiple MVPs to put the Blue Jays on the precipice of a 3-2 World Series lead.

If Toronto goes on to win it all, this Yesavage performance will go directly into franchise lore.

Unbelievable can be hyperbole, but this was damn close.

Yesavage returned in the bottom of the seventh to face Freeman, who struck out swinging for the Blue Jay rookie's 12th strikeout of Game 5.

Teoscar Hernández was up next. He hit a slow moving ball in the infield, which Clement couldn’t make a play on. That gave Hernández a single, and the Dodgers had a runner on first with one out.

Edman was the third batter of the inning for the Dodgers.

Yesavage, who passed the 100-pitch mark during the Edman at-bat, got a ground ball to third base from Edman, which the Jays turned into a double play to end the inning.

He may just be 22 years old with only eight starts in his MLB career, but the starter is already re-setting his own records.

Now with 12 strikeouts on the night, he’s surpassed the Blue Jays franchise mark of 11 he established in Game 2 of the ALDS.

The 12 punchouts represent a record for a rookie in the World Series, too, breaking Don Newcombe’s mark of 11 set in 1949.

Anthony Banda inherited a mess as he entered the game for the Dodgers in the top of the seventh.

The bases were loaded, with two out and Varsho at the plate.

He got Varsho to ground out to end the frame, with the Dodgers trailing the Blue Jays 5-1.

Kirk then had a chance to do some damage for the Blue Jays. He came to bat with two out, and Guerrero at third and Bichette at first.

Henriquez, the Dodgers reliever, then walked Kirk.

That loaded the bases and prompted the Dodgers to make another pitching change.

Anthony Banda is on the mound, with the Jays leading 5-1 in the top of the 7th.

What a boost Bichette has been to the Blue Jays in this World Series — even while he can’t properly run or play shortstop.

He’s now hitting .333 since returning, contributing just as he had all season long with the bat.

Bichette came to the plate with Guerrero at first, Giménez at second, and two out.

He ripped a single to right field, which brought home Giménez and moved Guerrero to third on the play.

Once again, Barger is showing he’s more than just a power threat.

He made that brilliant diving grab in the sixth. Then, in the seventh, two smart reads on pitches in the dirt allowed him to move to third.

A passed ball on a walk to Guerrero allowed Barger to scamper home for an all-important insurance run.

The Dodgers brought in Edgardo Henriquez to try to slam the door on the seventh without any Blue Jays runs.

He entered the game to face Guerrero, with two out and the Jays' Giménez at first base, and Barger at third base.

Henriquez fell behind Guerrero 3-1, before the Jays' slugger fouled off a fifth pitch to reach a full count of 3-2.

His sixth pitch to Guerrero was a passed ball that got away from the catcher. Guerrero went to first on a walk — but the passed ball allowed Barger to run home.

That put the score at 4-1 for Toronto in the bottom of the seventh.

Schneider came to bat with Barger at second, Giménez at first, and only one out.

Snell threw two strikes to Schneider, then a ball, then another wild pitch, which allowed Barger to advance to third.

Schneider got to a 3-2 count with Snell, but struck out on the sixth pitch.

The Dodgers then pulled Snell with two out.
