Jays cut into Dodgers' lead, trail 3-1 in World Series Game 6

impost 'means so much' to the Jays, Bichette says forward of biz 6

Jays focused on meeting the moment against Yamamoto’s pitching in Game 6, Bichette says

Yamamoto got two outs, before allowing a double to Guerrero. That brought Bichette up, who Yamamoto walked to put two on. But Varsho struck out and the Jays left two stranded.

The good news: He’s on pace to throw 135 pitches over nine innings, which would stretch the outer limits of what modern managers allow from their starters.

The bad news: It’s Game 6 of the World Series and Yamamoto looks sharp. Manager Dave Roberts might just let him go the distance if he keeps putting up zeroes.

All told, the Jays need to run that pitch count up — and fast.

Gausman's pitch count climbed above the 90-mark during the sixth, but he had a three-up, three-down inning.

Despite no score, the pesky infielder just hit safely in his 12th straight game, tying the record set by 1992 World Series MVP Pat Borders.

At this point, however, Clement is hoping he doesn’t have the chance to break it — at least until next season.

Clement got to first on a two-out single, but Giménez lined out to centre field to end the inning.

Gausman has been solid through five innings, but he’s thrown 83 pitches. It’s unlikely Schneider lets him face the top of the order again, and we’re seven batters away from that.

Which means it’s almost time for the bullpen.

Perhaps Chris Bassitt, the converted starter who has dominated in relief in these playoffs, is the first man up. He could go multiple innings and bridge the gap to the late frames, when ideally the Blue Jays would be in position to use their top arms.

Gausman faced three batters and got three outs. No damage done.

There are several thousand people here — many in winter coats, Jays gear, Halloween costumes or all of the above. A couple hundred people have ventured up to the catwalk, and others are perched on the blue-and-white Toronto sign, trying to get a view of the screen.

Loretta Klauke is one of the fans who’s still smiling despite a slow start: “I feel they can catch up.”

Klauke says she used to play baseball herself. She’s been loyally listening to the Jays on the radio at least since the last time they won the World Series.

“Sometimes they’re more important than an appointment,” she says.

Fuelled by the energy of the players and fellow fans, she commuted to the watch party from Etobicoke by herself.

“I’m 70, but tonight I feel about 40.”

A pair of Blue Jays icons — José Bautista and Devon White — were just shown on the jumbotron and received loud applause.

Bautista, he of the iconic 2015 bat flip, formed a heart shape with his fingers in response to the crowd.

Earlier, White threw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Two double plays is bad for obvious reasons — but it also greatly aids Yamamoto’s pitch count. And if there’s one key to this game for the Jays, it’s getting into that struggling Dodgers bullpen.
