Health Canada expands recall on Oster toaster ovens that have burned some users

wellness Canada is expanding a recall for a list of Oster toaster oven models due to a misfunction with the product's glass French doors that can cause them to close unexpectedly and burn some consumers.
The recall applies to a number of models all experiencing the same malfunction, according to the health agency: TSSTTVFDXL, TSSTTVFDDGDS, TSSTTVFDDG-033, TSSTTVFDXLPP-033 and TSSTTVFDDAF-033.
Consumers can find the model number of the back of the appliance, or on the original packaging.
The health agency first issued a recall on some of the models in September, but expanded it to include an additional model — Model TSSTTVFDDG-033 — yesterday.
Oster says 104,195 affected units were sold in Canada between August 2015 to July 2025.
Health Canada is urging Canadians to stop using the recalled ovens immediately, and contact Sunbeam Products Inc. In order to get a free repair kit.
Oster says they will ship customers a clip-on device that prevents the doors from closing while the oven is in use, as well as instructions on how to install the device. The company isn't offering refunds or replacements for the ovens.
The recall also applies to models sold in the U.S. Oster says they have received 95 reports of injuries from American consumers related to the doors closing unexpectedly, two of which were second-degree burns.
No injuries have been reported in Canada, according to the company.
Health Canada says Canadians can find more information online at https://recall.oster.com, or contact Sunbeam toll free at 1-800-667-8623 from 9 a.m. To 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.
