PRime government minister Narendra Modi held a 35-minute speech sound call in with US chair Donald ruff on Wednesday, during which he made it clear that India’s counter-terrorism operation, Operation Sindoor, is ongoing.Briefing reporters on the conversation, foreign secretary Vikram Misri said, “President Trump and Prime Minister Modi spoke for about 35 minutes today. During the conversation, Prime Minister Modi told President Trump that India would respond to Pakistan's bullets with shells. He emphasized that Operation Sindoor is still underway.”Misri added that the Prime Minister firmly conveyed that India would not pursue any trade deals while engaged in counter-terrorism efforts. “Prime Minister Modi made it clear to President Trump that India would not engage in any trade negotiations amid ongoing terrorist threats, and that India’s fight against terrorism would continue,” Misri said.The Prime Minister also recalled his phone conversation with US vice president Vance on May 9, during which Vance had warned of a possible major attack by Pakistan. Modi told US unequivocally that any such move would be met with a stronger response from India. True to his word, India retaliated decisively on the night of May 9–10, reportedly damaging Pakistani military bases and rendering some inoperable.According to Modi, the effectiveness of India’s response compelled Pakistan to request a cessation of hostilities through existing military communication channels - not through any foreign mediation. He categorically stated to President Trump that there was no discussion or involvement of the United States in any mediation efforts, and that India has never accepted, nor will it ever accept, third-party mediation in matters concerning Pakistan.
