The maximum temperature in the national capital on Wednesday touched 34.2 degrees Celsius, which is 4.6 notches below normal, and the minimum temperature settled at 24.2 degrees Celsius, which is 3.3 degrees below normal. Weather predictions across IndiaSeveral parts in northern and northeast India may witness heavy to very heavy rainfall on Thursday, said IMD. In Maharashtra, Mumbai was under yelow alert on Thursday, while Pune and Thane were placed under orange alert, as per IMD website. In Jharkhand, heavy to very heavy rainfall with isolated extremely heavy rainfall is very likely in some parts of Jharkhand. Isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, east Rajasthan, east Uttar Pradesh, gangetic West Bengal, Konkan and Goa, Maharashtra, and Odisha may also witness heavy to very heavy rainfall. According to the weather department, heavy rainfall is very likely to hit some parts of Gujarat, Kerala and Mahe, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Uttarakhand, west Madhya Pradesh and west Uttar Pradesh. Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty winds with speed up to 40-50 kmph may hit isolated places over Andaman & Nicobar islands, Bihar, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Similar weather conditions may also be witnessed in parts of Haryana, Delhi, Jharkhand, Nagaland, Punjab, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Sikkim, Telangana and sub Himalayan West Bengal too, however, with less speedy gusty winds (30-40 kmph). In isolated places over Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, the weather is very likely to remain hot and humid.
