Jays' Davis Schneider: 'Feels great' playing for a whole country
This father-son duo drove 18 hours to see the Jays at Yankee Stadium
Wow. Blue Jays are off to a 2-0 lead already after the superstar’s third home run in three games.
Wow.
We’re underway in Game 3 as Carlos Rodón fires a pitch and George Springer swings but comes up empty.
Jays fan catches Guerrero Jr.'s grand slam ball in ALDS Game 2
Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s epic grand slam ball in Sunday's fourth inning helped cement the Jays's second win over the Yankees in the ALDS. It was a huge win for this Ontario man too, who caught that ball in the stands.
There’s no doubt Blue Jays fans will be far outnumbered tonight at Yankee Stadium in The Bronx.
Still — many made the trek to show their support.
We spoke to Yankees fans who say Jays supporters shouldn’t expect a warm welcome.
The Yankees managed a comeback in 2001 thanks in part to Derek Jeter’s remarkable flip play to home plate to nab Jeremy Giambi of the Oakland Athletics.
They also came back to take out Cleveland in 2016.
But good news for Jays fans: Among teams ahead 2-0 in the current 2-2-1 format, 31 of 34 have advanced, according to The Canadian Press.
Yankees fan Charlie Lugo wasn’t fazed by the Blue Jays offensive barrage on his way into Game 3.
His son, Jordan, not so much.
“Pretty nervous,” he said, before admitting he was frustrated with the Yankees’ performance so far. “I got pretty mad cause I want them to win this thing.”
What’s it going to be like inside Yankee Stadium tonight?
“It’s going to be rowdy. It’s going to be one for the ages,” Charlie said.
Toronto’s superstar has exploded in this series, homering in the first two games. And there’s reason to hope for more from first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
He’s been phenomenal in Yankee Stadium throughout his career, homering 16 times in 48 games.
“He’s certainly hurt us so far,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters on Monday. Or, as the New York Post wrote in a headline: “Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Is a Yankees problem with no apparent answer.”
And the loudest boo greeted Jays slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr., prompting a huge smile from the first baseman as he ran onto the field.
Isiah Kiner-Falefa, a former Yankee, actually got a smattering of applause.

Brett Campbell and his father Brian drove from Grande Prairie, Alta., to Yankee Stadium in New York to watch the Jays play Game 3 of the American League Division Series.
Brett Campbell and his father Brian, grain farmers from Grande Prairie, Alta., took an 18-hour journey to get to Yankee Stadium for the game.
“This is an unreal situation to be sitting in right now,” Brett said.
Brian is anticipating a deep playoff run. “They should be able to take her all the way.”
Jays' Davis Schneider: 'Feels great' playing for a whole country
At a pre-game news conference on Tuesday, the Blue Jays' Davis Schneider — who grew up in New Jersey as a Phillies fan — was asked for his thoughts on representing all of Canada, with Toronto as the country's only MLB team.
A quote from both skippers ahead of Game 3:
“It’s about: Win today,” said Yankees manager Aaron Boone, noting his team has been playing must-win baseball for weeks now. The mindset his players need: “Keep it small, keep it simple.”
Jays manager John Schneider says his Blue Jays are ready for Yankee Stadium, one of the biggest stages in the major league.
"That's one of the many things I love about this team, focusing on what's important now," Schneider said. "It will be a fun atmosphere, I know that."
Shane Bieber gets the start for the Blue Jays. This is an exciting matchup for Bieber, who returned from elbow surgery this year and has, at times, looked like an absolute ace. Bieber’s experienced, so hopefully he won’t be rattled by the crowd, and the Yankees haven’t faced him yet this season, which might be an advantage.
Carlos Rodón is on the hill for the Yankees. The Jays have faced him twice this year and have done pretty well. In both games, Rodón pitched five innings and gave up two earned runs in each game, per the sports statistic site StatMuse.
