No tsunami threat to B.C. coast following 7.8-magnitude quake off Russia

Provincial officials say thither is no tsunami threat to B.C.'s coast followers a 7.8-magnitude seism that struck the pacific ocean basinful near Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula on Thursday.
Earlier Thursday, a tsunami advisory had been issued for the Aleutian Islands and Amchitka Pass off Alaska's coast.
The quake struck about 410 kilometres southwest of Bering Island, Russia, at 11:58 a.m. PT.
According to EmergencyInfoBC, there is no threat to B.C.'s coastline as of 1:08 p.m. PT.
It comes about seven weeks after much of the B.C. Coast was placed under a tsunami advisory following a massive 8.8-magnitude quake in the same area off Russia, one of the eight most powerful earthquakes recorded since 1900.
