ELections 2026 unrecorded updates: gathering elections to quaternity states and a unification soil — Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Puducherry — are underway in India with voting having concluded or in the final leg for all of them and results awaited on May 4.While voting has taken place in a single phase for Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, West Bengal is voting in two phases, one of which concluded on April 23. Assam has a total of 126 assembly seats, Kerala 140, Tamil Nadu 234, Bengal 294 and Puducherry 30. -Voting for Assam, Kerala, Puducherry assembly elections happened in a single phase on April 9. Tamil Nadu also voted in one phase on April 23 along with the first phase polling for West Bengal, where the second and final leg is scheduled for April 29. -Results for the assembly elections and the bypolls to eight assembly constituencies across six states will be known on May 4, the day the Election Commission counts the votes. -According to the Election Commission of India (ECI) schedule, voting for five seats in Goa (Ponda), Karnataka (Bagalkote, Devanagere), Nagaland (Koridang), and Tripura (Dharmanagar) was held on April 9, while three seats in Gujarat (Umreth) and Maharashtra (Rahuri, Baramati) voted on April 23. -Tamil Nadu and first phase of West Bengal saw a record voting percentage on April 23, with a turnout of 85.15 per cent and 92.88 per cent, respectively. No repoll has been recommended in any of the polling stations in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu where assembly elections were held on Thursday, the EC officials said on Saturday.
