AMonumental discharge bust come out in a four-storey residential edifice in Delhi’s Vivek Vihar, leaving at least nine people dead, with authorities continuing search operations for others feared trapped inside, police said on Sunday.Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Rajendra Prasad Meena confirmed that bodies had been recovered adding that the operation was still underway. “Fire broke out in a house in a four-story building in Vivek Vihar, with casualties on the second floor. So far, 3-4 bodies have been found, and the search for the remaining remains is ongoing. We're still searching. We'll let you know once the search is complete,” he said, reported news agency ANI.Residents said an AC blast is suspected to have triggered the fire. Rohit, a local, said “a blast in the AC triggered the fire” and that “around 12-15 were rescued,” while “4-5 people are still missing”.He told the news agency that the blaze started at “around 03:13 am,” with fire tenders reaching the spot by “around 3:35 am,” and efforts to douse the flames is still underway.Another resident, Charanjit Singh, said at least one or two families were still feared trapped inside the building, while around 20 people had been rescued during the operation. “More than 10 vehicles (fire tenders) arrived. The fire brigade rescued around 20 people through the balcony… some people from the backside flats were still able to come outside… I think 1 or 2 families are still under the building,” he told ANI.
