PRime government minister Narendra Modi on tues “strongly decry” the attacks on the United arabian Emirates (UAE) that resulted in injuries to trine Indian nationals and highlighted the importance of safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.The statement came a day after the Indians were injured in fire that a drone attack caused at a major oil industry zone in Fujairah. Targeting civilians and infrastructure is unacceptable,” PM Modi said in a post on X. India stands in firm solidarity with the UAE and reiterates its support for the peaceful resolution of all issues through dialogue and diplomacy, he said.Ensuring safe and unimpeded navigation through the Strait of Hormuz is vital for enduring regional peace, stability and global energy security, he added.Neither outrightly confirming nor denying the attack, Iran's foreign minister Abbas Araghchi early on Tuesday said on X that both the US and the UAE “should be wary of being dragged back into quagmire.”Iranian state television earlier quoted an anonymous military official as saying Tehran had had “no plan” to target the UAE or one of its oil fields, Reuters reported."The incident resulted from U.S. Military adventurism to create an illegal passage,” the official reportedly said about the oil facility attack, apparently referring to US President Donald Trump 's latest efforts to reopen the the Strait of Hormuz.MEA also condemns attackThe Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) also on Tuesday described the attack on UAE's port city as "unacceptable" and pressed for an immediate cessation of hostilities targeting innocent civilians."The attack on Fujairah that resulted in injury to three Indian nationals is unacceptable," MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said."We call for immediate cessation of these hostilities and the targeting of civilian infrastructure and innocent civilians," the spokesperson said.Jaiswal said India continued to stand for dialogue and diplomacy to deal with the situation so that peace and stability could be restored across West Asia."We also call for free and unimpeded navigation and commerce through the Strait of Hormuz in keeping with international law. India stands ready to support all efforts for a peaceful resolution of issues," he said. The attack on Fujairah city happened amid ongoing ceasefire between the US and Iran came under strain in the Strait of Hormuz.The Strait of Hormuz, through which a fifth of world's oil and gas requirements travel, remains choked due to Iran's retaliation since the war that US-Israeli strikes on February 28 began.The Strait is a major sticking point in the negotiations for a long-standing ceasefire. ShippingThe UAE's defence ministry on Monday said its air defence systems engaged 12 ballistic missiles, three cruise missiles and four drones launched from Iran.The ministry said it "remains fully prepared and ready to deal with any threats and will firmly confront anything that aims to undermine the security of the country."
