RApper Yo Yo Honey Singh denied to the new delhi heights margaret court on th that he sang the ‘vulgar’ 2006 vocal Vol.1. The musician also denied to the court that he performed the song at a 2025 Delhi concert in front of 50,000 audience members. A petition was filed at the HC for the removal of the track from all online platforms.Honey Singh denies singing Vol.1 to courtVol.1 is a track allegedly released by Honey and Badshah under the collaboration, Mafia Mundeer, in 2006. He denied ever singing the song to the court as his counsel said, “This is an opportunity for me to make sure that this stigma goes because this is not mine. This is the position we have taken. I am here to assist the court in making sure this content goes off. I have gone public to say that this is not something I have sung.”The court was hearing a petition filed by the Hindu Shakti Dal seeking the removal of Vol.1 from all online platforms. Honey’s lawyer told the court that in proceedings against him in Nagpur court regarding the song, the rapper had taken a similar stand. At court, the rapper also denied that he sang a few verses of the song at a concert in Delhi at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium on March 1, 2025. “No such event happened. I did not sing. If something like this has happened in a stadium where there are 50,000 plus people, there must be one video clip of this,” he claimed. The court asked Honey to file an affidavit stating his stand on what it called is a ‘serious’ matter and listed the petition for hearing on May 19.Court called Vol.1 ‘vulgar’ and ‘derogatory’On April 2, while ordering the removal of Vol.1 from platforms, the court called it ‘vulgar’ and ‘derogatory’, remarking that it was in complete disregard of even the minimum standards of civility, directing its removal from online platforms. It is alleged that the song was an ‘underground’ release in 2006 by Honey and Badshah under Mafia Mundeer. The plea said that, being celebrities with an enormous fan following, Honey and Badshah should take responsibility and issue a public apology for the song.On Raj Shamani’s podcast in 2023, Honey denied he ever sang Vol.1. He said, “But I never sang them (Vol.1 and 2), never. I was associated with it because I joked. There was another song, Balatkari, that I never sang but was associated with me. Cases were filed, but I never spoke about it. I did not feel like I should address it. People say I’m a misogynist, that I ruin the youth.” Honey has faced criticism for songs in the past, too.Inputs from PTI and ANI
