N. Ravi, has issued an Order dissolving the West Bengal Legislative Assembly with effect from 07 May 2026. The Order has come into force in accordance with the constitutional provisions contained under Article 174(2)(b) the Constitution of India," reads the official statement issued by the Lok Bhavan, accessed by HT.Mamata says 'won't resign'Following the TMC's crushing defeat in the assembly elections, Mamata Banerjee stated that she would not resign as chief minister.“No question of me resigning, we were defeated not by public mandate but by conspiracy,” said Mamata during her press conference earlier this week.On Wednesday, in a closed-door meeting, the TMC leader was stood firm on not resigning and was quoted as saying: “Let them impose President's Rule if they want. Let them dismiss me if they want."
