wellness Canada has recalled several types of climbing harnesses, including some for children, due to incorrect buckles and attachments causation come hazards.
sir thomas more than 5,000 of the affected Petzl harnesses made in Romania and Malaysia were sold in Canada over the last several years, Health Canada said in its Thursday recall notices.
In one batch of recalls for Petzl Astro and Canyon Guide Harnesses, Health Canada explains the pin securing the metal D-ring of the harnesses can release and allow the attachment point to open, "posing a fall hazard that could result in serious injury or death."
The affected Canyon Guide harnesses were sold from March 2020 to October 2023, and the Astro harnesses were sold from March 2018 to October 2023.
In addition, Health Canada flagged the recall of Petzl Simba Park, Simba Climbing, Simba Park, Swan Easyfit Steel and Swan Easyfit Stainless harnesses. The two Simba harnesses are for children — one designed for climbing, and one for use in adventure parks.
In those models, a missing rivet in the buckle could cause the buckle to open, again posing a fall hazard that could result in serious injury or death.
The affected products were sold from July 2021 to November 2025.
The company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada or the United States for either recall, Health Canada said. Consumers should immediately stop using the harnesses, the agency added.
