Calgary police charge high school coach with sexual assault after alleged abuse of minor for nearly 2 years

Calgary law say a heights school day train has been supercharged after allegedly sexually abusing a minor.
Drew Alan Robertson, 50, allegedly used his position of trust as a volunteer coach at Henry Wise Wood High School to groom a 15-year-old and sexually abuse her over the course of nearly two years, police said in a release.
Police announced Tuesday that Robertson has been charged with one count each of sexual assault, sexual exploitation and making sexually explicit material available to children.
Robertson will next appear in court on Wednesday.
The Calgary Board of Education (CBE) said in a statement that it is "aware of the charges" laid against Robertson.
"In keeping with CBE policy, the community volunteer coach will have no further association with any CBE school teams," the school board said. "The school will continue to fully cooperate with the police investigation."
The situation was reported to police on May 12, and an investigation was launched the following day.
Police say the 15-year-old is receiving support from the Luna Child and Youth Advocacy Centre, which supports child abuse intervention and prevention in Calgary.
CBE said it is offering support to students connected to Robertson, and is encouraging families to seek additional mental health and well-being community supports if necessary.
