In a key advisory, the Indian government said that countries bordering the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda, including South Sudan, are assessed to be “at high risk of disease transmission”, and urged citizens to avoid non-essential travel there.On May 17, the WHO declared the Ebola outbreak a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC), but clarified that it did not meet the criteria for a pandemic emergency.In its announcement, the global health body had also identified countries bordering DR Congo to be at high risk.India lists countries to avoidIn its Sunday release, the Indian government listed the following countries to avoid non-essential travel to:Democratic Republic of the CongoUgandaSouth SudanBesides, Indians already residing or headed to these places have been urged to strictly follow all guidelines issued by the local authorities there, and maintain heightened precautions.“Ebola Disease is a viral haemorrhagic fever caused by infection with the Bundibugyo virus strain of Ebola Virus. It is a serious disease with a high mortality rate," the government said in a release, adding that no vaccine has been approved to prevent it yet.The government also clarified that no Ebola outbreak cases have been reported in India
