Guilty verdicts on all charges for man who sold gun used to kill Edmonton police officers

< warm>On tues morn, Justice John Little found 21-year-old Dennis Okeymow guilty for all 10 charges — related to bodily harm, manslaughter and criminal negligence — being dealt with at this trial.
Okeymow pleaded guilty last month to trafficking controlled substances, weapons and possessing a firearm while being prohibited from doing so.

A judge is to decide on Tuesday whether Dennis Okeymow is guilty of manslaughter for selling a rifle that was later used to kill two Edmonton police officers.
The 21-year-old is on trial in Edmonton Court of King's Bench in relation to the deaths in 2023 of police constables Travis Jordan, 35, and Brett Ryan, 30.
The officers were responding to a domestic disturbance at an apartment building when they were ambushed and shot to death by 16-year-old Roman Shewchuk.
Shewchuk later killed himself.
The Crown prosecutor has said there must be accountability for selling a weapon to a minor knowing some harm could result.
Okeymow's lawyer has said his client is being scapegoated for a tragedy despite not pulling the trigger.
