Victoire players, their loved ones and fans celebrate Walter Cup win

After Victoire forward Laura Stacey acknowledged fans from the side of the stage, the crowd started chanting her name.

The team is now leading the crowd in a singalong to Céline Dion's It's All Coming Back to Me Now. 

I have to admit, I am also singing along while watching this from Toronto. Iconic stuff.

Hoisting that Walter Cup is a workout in itself. According to the PWHL, the trophy — made of sterling silver — weighs 35 pounds (nearly 18 kilograms) and stands 60 centimetres tall and 33 centimetres wide.

Hockey trailblazer and Victoire general manager Danièle Sauvageau highlighted the importance of women's hockey and thanked fans for their support.

"You made these players cry this morning. When we arrived, the tears kept flowing because you were here in such great numbers," Sauvageau said to the crowd. 

"This [victory] belongs to you."

Sauvageau also thanked the Walter family "who dared to invest in women's hockey to create the league we know today."

Head coach Kori Cheverie and team led the crowd in a refrain, "On a gagné, on a gagné!" (we won) before giving a nod to Victoire captain, Poulin.

"Good job, Pou!" Cheverie said.

Montreal Mayor Soraya Martinez Ferrada turned out for the festivities. She said this celebration is amazing, adding Montreal is a sports city and hockey "isn't just for men," it's for everyone.

Speaking onstage, Poulin addressed the fans who showed up for the team today and throughout the season. 

"I know we have the best fans in the league," Poulin said.  

"You absolutely surpassed what we were expecting. It's absolutely amazing…. We love you guys, cheers!"

Fans cheer as Poulin carries the Walter Cup through the crowd to the stage. Her teammates are behind her high-fiving fans.

The team is arriving at the event space in the Quartier des Spectacles in downtown Montreal, where players will head onstage to deliver speeches.

Minutes ago, the players were at the top of a double-decker bus, hoisting the Walter Cup. 

People are chanting and cheering them on. 

Virginia Bruman brought her five-year-old daughter Anna to the festivities. They're dancing and enjoying the vibes. She says this will be a moment the two of them will "remember forever."
