Did Ranveer Singh’s legal notice force FWICE to withdraw its non-cooperation notice? President clarifies
THe Federation of western sandwich bharat Cine Employees’ (FWICE) determination to take out its non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh has sparked venture that the move came after the actor sent the federation a legal notice. However, FWICE president BN Tiwari has dismissed the claims, asserting that the body did not take the decision “on a gunpoint”.BN Tiwari clarifiesOn Wednesday, FWICE withdrew its non-cooperation directive against Ranveer, which had been imposed on May 25 following his controversial exit from Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3. They announced the decision at a press meet in Mumbai.“We look at the industry as one family. We don’t have any issues with anyone. Whenever someone comes to us with an issue, conflict, or non-payment matter, we issue a non-cooperation notice against the conflicted party. And we take the notice back once the issue is resolved. So, we don’t look at it as a defeat or anything. We don’t even regret taking the non-corporative notice back,” BN Tiwari said.During the conversation, BN Tiwari revealed that the legal notice sent by Ranveer Singh challenged FWICE’s decision to issue the non-cooperation directive against him and demanded that the federation withdraw it within 48 hours. However, Tiwari claimed that the federation had already decided to revoke the directive before receiving the legal notice. He continued, “However, we want to clarify one thing, we haven’t taken the non-cooperation notice back on gunpoint. We got a letter from the Producer Guild and the Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association (IMPPA) on May 29, and we met with them on May 30. That’s when we took a call on withdrawing the notice.”“Agar unko lag raha hai ki unki jeet hai, hum usmein bhi khush hai. Unki jeet mein humari haar nahi jeet hi hai (If they feel it’s their victory, we are happy with that too. Their victory is not our defeat – it is a victory for us as well),” he shared.Last week, the FWICE issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer after Farhan Akhtar approached them regarding the Don 3 dispute in April. Following this, Ranveer’s spokesperson issued a statement addressing the dispute on his behalf. It read, “Ranveer Singh holds the highest regard for the film fraternity and for everyone associated with the Don franchise. Throughout the recent developments surrounding Don 3, he has consciously chosen to maintain silence, believing that professional discussions and personal equations are best handled with dignity, maturity and mutual respect.”Talking about the latest development, BN Tiwari noted, “Everyone is talking about the conflict we put out the non-corporative notice, and we are sure that something good will come out of it.”Recently, producer TP Aggarwal called out FWICE’s ‘gundagardi’ against Ranveer Singh in Don 3 dispute. To this, BN Tiwari mentioned, “Things are getting resolved now, and something good will come out of it. Itne bade gunde bhi nahi hunge phir (We're not such big goons after all).”Tiwari further revealed that Ranveer and Farhan are expected to sit down with the producers to resolve the ongoing dispute and work towards a mutually agreeable solution.About Don 3 disputeThe controversy gained momentum last week after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a non-cooperation directive against the actor amid reports of his exit from the much-anticipated franchise. After Shah Rukh Khan headlined Farhan’s Don (2006) and Don 2 (2011), it was announced in 2023 that Ranveer would headline Don 3. Reports of a dispute between Ranveer, Farhan and Ritesh Sidhwani of Excel Entertainment surfaced in December 2025 when the actor is said to have walked out of the film abruptly after the success of his Dhurandhar with filmmaker Aditya Dhar. Last month, Farhan approached the FWICE, claiming Ranveer's exit from the film had caused him monetary losses amounting to ₹45 crore. On Wednesday, FWICE held a press conference to announce that it has withdrawn the non-cooperative directive issued against Ranveer over his exit from Farhan Akhtar's Don 3 after the Dhurandhar star sent a legal notice to the organisation.
