His legs were crushed and he has now been hospitalised, Yashpal Yadav, public relations officer of Faridabad Police, told HT.“Police received information about the accident around 3 pm after which rescue workers with cutting equipment went to the spot,” he said.Teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), police, and construction workers have been deployed at the site. Rescue operations are ongoing.How the accident occuredEyewitnesses told PTI that heavy rain had hit the area earlier in the day, leaving the construction site muddy and slippery. Work reportedly resumed after the weather improved.During lifting operations for flyover girders, the crane, mounted on or positioned near a container, lost balance and toppled, crushing the structure beneath it, as per PTI.Sunil Kumar, an eyewitness, told ANI that the crane overturned during storm-like conditions and that several workers were initially feared trapped. Rescue operationsPratik Agrawal, Faridabad deputy commissioner of police (Ballabhgarh), said adverse weather conditions contributed to the collapse. He told ANI that the crane fell onto the container and that only one person was found alive but injured, while three bodies were recovered by SDRF teams.“Due to adverse weather conditions, the crane, which was mounted on the container, crashed down onto the container itself. Based on the information gathered so far, there were four people inside the container. We have successfully rescued one individual alive, though injured. The SDRF team stationed here has also recovered three bodies and rescue operations are currently proceeding continuously,” he said. Gas cutters and heavy machinery are being used to dismantle the massive crane structure and remove debris, as per PTI.“Efforts are still going on to cut or lift the collapsed part of the crane and the container to reach the other workers.
