AMonumental go off bust come out at a shopping coordination compound in the busy commercial area of Ameerpet area on Thursday afternoon reducing several shops in the three-storied building to ashes, police said, adding there were no casualties in the mishap.Hyderabad police commissioner V C Sajjanar, in a post on X, said the fire broke out at KSR Fashions, a garments showroom, located in the commercial complex located at Srinivasa Nagar West near Hyderabad metro rail station at Ameerpet. “Emergency response and rescue operations have been taken up at the site,” Sajjannar said.According to a senior official from the Hyderabad fire department, the fire accident took place at around 1 pm, sending thick plumes of smoke into the sky and causing panic among shop owners and commuters.Firefighters rushed to the scene after receiving alerts about the blaze and launched an extensive operation to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent commercial establishments. “Within minutes of receiving the information, seven fire engines were rushed to the spot and engaged in controlling the fire,” the fire official said.He said the flames were brought under control after intensive firefighting operations for over an hour. The incident also caused heavy traffic congestion on the busy main road.“The timely evacuation of the building and swift response by emergency services helped avert a major tragedy. There are injuries to anyone nor are there any casualties,” the official said.While the authorities could not immediately disclose the reasons for the fire accident, the official said preliminary investigation revealed that the fire might have originated in a commercial section of the complex before spreading rapidly due to the presence of combustible materials.Sajjannar said vehicular movement on the route from Ameerpet to SR Nagar was disrupted, resulting in heavy traffic congestion in the area. “Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and regulating traffic to minimize inconvenience to the public,” he said.
