THe Patna law on fri engaged pedagogue faisal ibn abdel aziz al-saud Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir, after his security guards opened fire in the air after a group of people vandalised his coaching institute on June 2. The two security guards were arrested for opening fire outside the institute premises in the Musallahpur Hat area under the Kadamkuan police station limits on Thursday on charges of attempt to murder and violation of the Arms Act.The District Investigation Unit (DIU) has been tasked with tracking down the popular educator. Police claimed Khan went missing from the institute on Friday afternoon.'Institute guards fired shots at Khan's orders'According to investigators, the FIR was filed after the guards allegedly told the police during interrogation that they opened fire on Khan’s direct instructions. They also claimed that Khan asked them to fire at the mob that had collected at the institute’s entrance and had brutally assaulted a guard.“The FIR was registered based on the statement of assistant sub-inspector Anil Kumar under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and sections 25, 27, and 35 of the Arms Act (relating to possession of illegal arms, and unlawful use of firearm. The guards confessed that they fired two rounds each after Khan told them to fire and assured them he would handle the fallout,” a police officer said.‘Self-defence’: Khan In a video statement on Friday, Khan said the guards had acted in self-defence.“A clash was underway outside. Knowing that the police would take time to arrive, we fired in self-defence,” he said. Police, however, claimed that Khan was trying to provoke students by claiming that other institutes would raise their fees if his coaching centre was shut down.A statement by the office of the City Superintendent of Police (Central), Patna said a group of individuals had indulged in stone-pelting and vandalism at the KGS centre at around 10.10 pm on June 2.“Following the incident, case No. 410/26 was registered. During the probe, a video emerged showing two individuals engaging in aerial firing after the vandalism. The two guards were identified, detained, and their weapons seized for forensic examination. Based on the sequence of events, Khan Sir and two others were named in the FIR,” the police statement read.Police asked students not to be misled by the coaching institute, emphasising that there would be no compromise on law and order. On June 3, a massive crowd of students had gathered outside the institute following reports of the firing, prompting heavy security deployment.
