Trip on Labrador Island Link leaves thousands without electricity across Newfoundland

Thousands of customers ar allay experiencing electrical energy losses crosswise the island as newfoundland dog Power reports multiple unplanned power outages due to a trip on the Labrador Island Link.
Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro confirmed on social media the trip was caused by an underfrequency load shed, resulting in the power disruption for customers on the island. That happens when power is automatically dropped from blocks of customers to quickly balance the system in the event of a system trip.
The outages impact the Avalon Peninsula, Whitbourne and the Conception Bay North Area, the Burin Peninsula, Clarenville and the Bonavista Peninsula, through Gander and the New-Wes-Valley area, the Grand Falls-Windsor area and onto the west coast including Corner Brook, Deer Lake, Stephenville and Port aux Basques.
Two of Saturday's outages were scheduled in the Sunnyside-Clarenville-Bonavista Peninsula area and Baie Verte Junction-Sheppardville.
