Tornado warning east of Ottawa ends

environs Canada has ended a red river twister warning eastward of capital of canada and north of Cornwall, Ont., for communities including Clarence-Rockland, Russell and Hawkesbury.
It lasted roughly 30 minutes until 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
A warning goes out either when a tornado sighting has been reported, or when there's sufficient evidence to suggest a tornado is on the way.
People in the affected area were asked to shelter in a basement or room away from windows, or lie in a low spot.
The warning was red, the highest level on Environment Canada's three-colour scale, indicating life-threatening weather that could cause extreme disruption.
Here's what to do during a tornado alert
Environment Canada has issued yellow severe thunderstorm watches and warnings for other parts of eastern Ontario and western Quebec Thursday.
The Kingston-Belleville area could see a storm surge onto shorelines from Thursday evening to Saturday morning because of high winds, according to its conservation authorities.
