Forty seconds into the half and the Swiss have taken the lead!

The Swiss kick things off and we've got another 45 minutes of soccer to play!

In Seattle, Bosnia-Herzegovina has a 2-1 lead over Qatar at the break.

Kerim Alajbegović opened the scoring around the half-hour mark, and a Qatari own goal doubled Bosnia-Herzegovina's lead soon after.

Captain Hassan Al-Haydos got one back for Qatar a few minutes before halftime. The Maroons are still looking for their first-ever World Cup win.

The results won't really matter to Canada unless both Bosnia-Herzegovina and Switzerland win by absolutely monumental scores.

Hydration breaks have been the subject of plenty of chatter during the World Cup, with some calling them a cash grab and Uruguay head coach Marcelo Bielsa, a man never at a loss for words, saying the pause in action "alters the culturally constructed conception of how to interpret football."

But what are hydration breaks like for fans in the stadium?

Many North American sports fans are familiar with breaks in the action and may not think much of it, as opposed to more traditional soccer fans who are used to having the game clock always running.

Some have worried that the break can change the momentum of the game for the players.

As for the fans in B.C. Place, they were entertained by a troupe of drummers and Bon Jovi's Livin' on a Prayer

Whatever it was, the break seemed to have given Les Rouges and their fans something of a boost.

We'll see if they can carry some of that momentum into the second half.

After starting the game on their heels, Canada looked the better side after the hydration break.

The striker duo was a lot more involved in the second part of the first half, and Les Rouges got more shots on Gregor Kobel.

Luc de Fougerolles and Nathan Saliba were quite solid in the opening half. De Fougerolles had some tidy defensive contributions — impressive given a yellow will suspend him for the Round of 32. And Saliba didn't look out of place in the midfield.

Crépeau probably had the biggest moment of the first half though, making a huge save on Breel Embolo to keep the game scoreless.

The halftime whistle goes and the teams head into the break goalless.

As things stand, Canada will top their group — the first time they have ever done that in the men's World Cup.

Canada has really grown into the game after the hydration break. Can they find a winner before halftime?

Canada gets their best opportunity of the game, as the ball is worked from the right side to the left.

Jonathan David found Ali Ahmed for the open shot, but the attempt was denied by Kobel.

Canada got a corner kick out of it, too, but couldn't create something out of it.

Switzerland had an opportunity to score from a free kick after Richie Laryea fouled Breel Embolo. But Granit Xhaka's attempt was nowhere near the Canadian goal.

Speaking of Cyle Larin, the Canadian striker had an opportunity to test Gregor Kobel. He tried to place his shot in the opposite bottom corner, but the attempt was handled by the Swiss goalkeeper with no rebound.

Kobel is yet to keep a clean sheet in this tournament. Canadians will hope it stays that way.
