Canada looked a better side coming out of the first-half hydration break. They'll need more of the same in the second-half edition.

As things stand, Canada will finish second in Group B and will play second in Group A on June 28.

Jonathan David looked to have a clear look at goal inside the Swiss box, but Nico Elvedi made a huge block to deflect the shot out of play.

Gregor Kobel then punched the corner kick delivery away.

Canada needs more of those kinds of looks — and maybe Liam Millar can help Les Rouges get them.

Carney couldn't hide his disappointment after that second goal by Switzerland. Same, Mr. Prime Minister, same.

What a difference a quarter of an hour can make.

From an encouraging end to the first half to a disastrous 17 minutes to start the second, Canada has gone from top of the table to second.

Les Rouges haven't really been able to get going in the second half. Passes have been sloppy, and some of the defensive actions have been nervy.

They'll need to get locked in soon, though, or else they can kiss home-field advantage in the Round of 32 goodbye.

Well, most of B.C. Place. Pockets of Swiss fans — most dressed in red and a few dressed as cows — are over the moon, dancing and chanting as the Nati take a 2-0 lead, greatly boosting their chances of finishing atop of Group B.

Johan Manzambi continues his fantastic run at this year's World Cup, scoring his third goal of the tournament.

Canada's centre-backs couldn't handle the ball over the top, and Embolo laid it off to Manzambi for the youngster's first goal of the match.

The goal followed a threatening opportunity for Canada that Cyle Larin couldn't get on the end of.

Canada responds with a triple change: Stephen Eustáquio, Liam Millar and Tani Oluwaseyi are on, Mathieu Choinière, Ali Ahmed and Larin are off.

That came quickly. The stands at B.C. Place weren't entirely full as many were still filing in following the halftime break. Out on the concourse, fans still collecting their beers looked at the TV screens in disbelief to see Switzerland had taken the lead thanks to Vargas.

After a decent defensive performance in the first half, Canada concedes just 40 seconds into the second half.

Rubén Vargas lasers his second goal of the 2026 World Cup past Crépeau. Manzambi gets the assist as he continues his electrifying debut campaign.

The Swiss kick things off and we've got another 45 minutes of soccer to play!

In Seattle, Bosnia-Herzegovina has a 2-1 lead over Qatar at the break.

Kerim Alajbegović opened the scoring around the half-hour mark, and a Qatari own goal doubled Bosnia-Herzegovina's lead soon after.

Captain Hassan Al-Haydos got one back for Qatar a few minutes before halftime. The Maroons are still looking for their first-ever World Cup win.

The results won't really matter to Canada unless both Bosnia-Herzegovina and Switzerland win by absolutely monumental scores.
