Moïse Bombito lets out a triumphant roar after blocking a pass from Oswin Appollis and winning a goal kick.

He's looked solid in his first World Cup start — and you can tell he feels it too!

Oluwaseyi gets his first shot on target with a turning shot from a bit of a tough angle. Williams didn't have much trouble jumping and catching it, though.

The chance started with a clever interception by the Canadian midfield.

I don't know, Jan. It's looking like a pretty even match to me so far.

Canada has created some half-chances and has more touches in the opponent's box, but that Cornelius header is their biggest chance of the game so far.

South Africa has also done well, forcing Crépeau into a save early in the half. They appear to be trying to bypass the midfield by launching long balls forward from the defence, where as many as four or five South Africans are waiting to vie with Canada's back line for the ball.

It's anyone's game so far as the players return from the hydration break.

Mouhamad, Cornelius has to score from there! He barely got anything on that excellent free kick from Millar.

So far the momentum has been with the Canadians, who have released some searching, defence-splitting passes and have worked some good openings in the box. But they have to start making these opportunities count.

Canada got its biggest chance of the game on Stephen Eustáquio's free kick. Defender Cornelius made a great run and was completely free in the South African box, but he couldn't do enough to test Ronwen Williams in goal.

He won't get many opportunities like that one.

A half-chance for the Canadians from the corner kick, as David fires a free shot off target.

All three of his team-leading goals came in the win over Qatar. Can he add another today?

Canada were seen by some as the favourite going into this game, but nobody seems to have told South Africa that.

Bafana Bafana have done a solid job bypassing Canada's press and defence with some slick skills, one-touch passes and quick runs.

They're taking the game to Canada in the opening quarter of an hour.

It's a fast start from both teams. Canada has begun strongly and is pressing South Africa's players well. Buchanan and Liam Millar look lively around the South African box.

But that attack from the South Africans highlighted the danger of their pace — Canada's defence will have to be alert to their quick breaks.

The pro-Canada chants are echoing throughout the stadium — based on the colours you can see in the stands, it definitely appears as if Canada has the home field advantage here.

However, with the collective support comes collective nerves. There was an audible gasp from the crowd when South Africa was able to get a shot on target.

You can feel the tension inside the arena. A lot of joy and confidence before the game, but the stakes seem to be settling in on the fans.

Crépeau has been called into action for the first time today, parrying a shot away with a diving stop.

Teboho Mokoena's shot bounced in front of and curled away from the Canadian, but Crépeau made the stop.
