Stephen Eustáquio leaves it late, but the goal has finally arrived!

Eustáquio started the game as the captain, and he leads the celebrations after an exceptional strike past Ronwen Williams.

This is his first Canada goal since 2023 — and what a time to score!

Five more minutes. That's all the time these two teams have left if they want to end this before extra time.

The game is opening up again and it's mostly the Canadians surging forward. But the final pass just keeps eluding them. It feels like it's going to take just one moment of magic to settle this match.

It's two like-for-like attacking subs made by South Africa: Tshepang Moremi and Iqraam Rayners come on for Thapelo Maseko and Evidence Makgopa.

Crépeau gets called into action with minutes to go, forced into making a diving save on a long-range shot.

He's not able to prevent the ball from squirming out of his grasp, but he pounces on the loose ball before the South African forward can get to it first.

Thousands inside the PNE Amphitheatre at the FIFA Fan Festival in Vancouver erupt as Canadian superstar Alphonso Davies finally checks into the match for his first minutes of the 2026 World Cup. The fans here have been on edge all game, cheering on the home squad at every moment and also voicing their displeasure with the referee.

Davies is already seeing a lot of the ball and he's helped fashion two good chances that led to shots on goal from the two Davids, Promise and Jonathan.

Davies looks sharp, his passes are crisp and he's definitely given Canada a boost.

The energy in this stadium — already high — is now off the charts with Davies on the pitch. You can feel that Canadian fans are more confident, louder and hopeful watching 19 attack.

The crowd went wild after Davies was in on a play that saw the ball roll just inches outside the South African post.

Fans feel like something big is going to happen soon.

Yeah Mouhamad, when Canada spurned those chances in the first half, it really started feeling like a single goal would seal this game. Even though Canada is on the front foot, that goal could still come from South Africa — their speed going forward is starting to give me palpitations.

Jan, not to brag, but I predicted before the game that Canada would win this one by a tight 1-0 or 2-1 score.

Now, I'm not good with predictions, but as this second half has dragged on, it really feels like one goal — from either team — will be enough to separate the two sides.

Whether that goal comes in normal time or extra time remains to be seen. What's your sense?
