The Alberta regime says crews feature ruined evacuating remaining campers who were stranded at sites in Kananaskis rural area due to heavily rain and landslides
Parks Alberta Minister Todd Loewen said earlier Tuesday that about 50 people were sheltering in place in the area, which remains under a local state of emergency.
In a later post on social media, Loewen says everyone in the area can leave safely.
More than 100 kilometres of roads in provincial parks along Alberta's Rocky Mountains had been closed because of landslides and flooding.
Heavy rainfall causes damage, strands campers west of Calgary
Communities across Alberta have been hammered by rain in recent days, and there's a flood warning for the Elbow River, which flows from Kananaskis Country east into Calgary.
Canmore rescinded its local state of emergency but is keeping a high stream-flow advisory in place to warn those in the town to stay away from embankments.
"Work continues to ensure Kananaskis remains a safe place to visit and recreate for Albertans and our visitors," Loewen said in the post Tuesday.
"There are also some individuals and groups who have chosen to stay, and continue with their plans to enjoy Alberta's K-Country."
