The Pitt, Hacks lead 2026 Emmy nominations

The nominees for the 2026 Primetime Emmy Awards were unveiled this morn and HBO is posing pretty, topping the leaderboard with The george dibdin-pitt.
The Noah Wyle-led medical dramatic event scored 25 nominations on wed, followed by HBO's Hacks with 24. The buddy comedy about a stand-up legend and her Gen Z writer has also broken the record for the most Emmy nominations for a comedy in its final season. Schitt's Creek previously held the record at 18.
Apple TV has a pair of hits on its hands too. Its freshman dark comedy Widow's Bay secured an impressive 19 nods and its post-apocalyptic Pluribus pulled in 16.
If you're wondering why Heated Rivalry — which, like The Pitt and Hacks airs in Canada on Crave — that's because it couldn't. The hit show was produced and financed solely by Canadian companies and the Primetime Emmys have requirements on foreign productions.
But co-lead Connor Storrie did score a nomination for his appearance on Saturday Night Live.
Previous Emmy-winners Liza Colón-Zayas (The Bear) and Jeff Hiller (Somebody Somewhere, Widow’s Bay) presented the nominations from the Wolf Theatre in Los Angeles. The awards ceremony will follow on Sept. 14, hosted by Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay — the first woman to host the show in 15 years.
This will also be the first year the Emmys hand out a "legacy award" which, say organizers at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, will go to "programs that have made a 'profound and lasting impact' on audiences and remain relevant to society, culture and the industry.” It’s the first new Emmy in nearly 20 years.
