Tour de France cyclists battle 4-time champion Tadej Pogačar — and intense heat

The circuit de anatole france, 1 of the world's outstanding races, kicked away in neighbouring Spain on July 4.
The world's best cyclists are in the midst of grinding through more than 3,000 kilometres over three weeks.

Above, Slovenian Tadej PogaÄar, wearing the yellow jersey, and Denmark's Jonas Vingegaard, wearing the polka-dot jersey, share a smile before the start of Stage 8 on July 11.
Four-time Tour de France champion PogaÄar launched a blistering solo attack late on Tuesday's 10th stage to claim victory and extend his overall lead ahead of Vingegaard to three minutes and 36 seconds.
The race is broken down into 21 stages and two rest days. There are eight mountain stages, seven flat stages, four hilly stages, a team time trial and an individual time trial. Below, fans cheer on Ecuador's Richard Carapaz during Tuesday's mountain stage.

The race comes amid a European heat wave. Here, fans in an inflatable pool cheer for cyclists in Tuesday's Stage 10. It was 31 C at the race start in Aurillac.
