Hoffman is scheduled to face the bottom two batters in the Dodgers order in Enrique Hernández and Miguel Rojas.
Those two at-bats are critical, because Ohtani is up next, and you’d like to ensure there are no runners on base.
That rule applies in all scenarios, but especially, you know, in the bottom of the ninth in Game 7 of the World Series.
Clement led off with a double.
The Dodgers turned to Blake Snell, usually a starter, to keep the Jays off the board.
Gimenez squared to bunt, but then pulled the bat back and blasted a line drive, but it was right at Max Muncy, who somehow snared it. One down.
Springer struck out swinging.
Davis Schneider, who ambushed Snell for a home run leading off Game 5, struck out to end the inning.
A double for Clement, breaking the MLB record for hits in a post-season.
His double to left-centre prompted a pitching change for the Dodgers — and chants of “Ernie, Ernie” throughout the crowd.
What a story for Clement, who was waived by one of the worst teams in baseball not long ago. Now, he’s starring in Game 7 of the World Series.
And by the way, that pitching change brought in Blake Snell, who called the Jays “lucky” for scoring off of him in Game 5. Don’t think the crowd didn’t hear those comments, because Snell was booed heavily as he jogged in from the right-field bullpen.
Clement leads off with a double. He now holds the record for the most hits in a post-season. But can the Jays cash him in?
Yup, it’s Ohtani — the same guy who allowed Bichette’s three-run homer. Couldn’t have scripted it better.
Trey Yesavage looked ready to go. He was standing on the mound staring in at Mookie Betts, who grounded out to the shortstop for the first out.
Max Muncy blasted a home run to right, briefly silencing the Rogers Centre crowd.
Bo Bichette made a nice play to get Teoscar Hernández.
And that was it for Yesavage, who gave way to closer Jeff Hoffman.
Edman grounded out to second to end the inning.
There are frustrated reports on social media that the Sportsnet app is down again. There is no official word from Sportsnet.ca or parent company Rogers Communications.
Earlier this week, Sportsnet+ customers experienced an issue streaming content during Game 4. No explanation was given for the outage.

Yesavage exits to roaring applause, and it’s time for Hoffman.
The Blue Jays closer will now look to close out the season. Four outs to go — but the lead is just one.
Max Muncy rips a home run deep into the right-field seats
And it’s now 4-3 Blue Jays in the 8th.
“Let’s go Bo!” the Rogers Centre faithful chanted but Bichette struck out.
Barger grounded out to first.
Kirk pounded a ball to the right-field gap for a single, but Varsho struck out swinging.
Schneider will try to piece together six final outs from Yesavage and Hoffman.
The latter, the Jays closer, has been inconsistent at times but dominant in these playoffs with 16 strikeouts in 11 innings and just one run allowed.
There were big cheers from the crowd when they saw Yesavage, their rookie rock star, jog back out to start the eighth.
