Today Prime Minister Mark Carney will participate in a virtual meeting of the "coalition of the willing" — allied countries supporting Ukraine — to discuss the U.S. Administration's peace plan for Ukraine, his office confirmed Tuesday.
The call is being hosted by French President Emmanuel Macros and U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte will also participate along with other leaders.
Reuters reports that Ukraine's European allies have drawn up a counter-proposal to U.S. President Donald Trump's plan which, according to the news agency, would halt fighting at present front lines and leave discussions of territory for later. It also includes a NATO-style U.S. Security guarantee for Ukraine.
Moscow, which described the initial reported U.S. Plan as a potential basis for an agreement, has so far rejected the European peace plan.
The Prime Minister's Office said it will issue a readout of the virtual call once it's over.

Kyiv and Washington have been working to overhaul the original 28-point peace plan leaked last week. It was strongly rebuked by Ukraine and its European allies, with some saying much of it read like a Russian wish list.
That plan wouldn't just recognize Russian control over the land it has already captured in Eastern Ukraine, but it would also give Moscow the rest of the Donetsk region, which it doesn't control. Moreover, the U.S. Would recognize the land would be recognized as "de facto Russian."
The deal would also shrink Ukraine's military to 600,000 and ensure the country is kept out of NATO.
When the deal was first leaked, an avid watcher of Russian state media told me broadcasters were initially "buzzing over it." But as discussions continued between Ukraine and the U.S., and as Europe introduced its own counter-proposal, the mood in Moscow soured.
State commentators essentially accused the E.U. Of trying to throw a wrench in negotiations. Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said Europe's plan is "completely unconstructive" and "not acceptable."
After meeting with the Ukrainian delegation in Geneva over the weekend, U.S. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll met with Russian officials for several hours in the United Arab Emirates' Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, a U.S. Official told The Associated Press.
Driscoll is heading up this phase of peace talks after becoming part of the U.S. Negotiating team less than two weeks ago.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said he expected the U.S. To share the new version of the peace plan it drafted with Ukraine.
"We expect them to provide us with a version they consider an interim one in terms of completing the phase of co-ordinating this text with the Europeans and the Ukrainians," Lavrov said.
Today, we'll be bringing you all the latest developments in Ukraine-Russia peace talks, which are led by the United States.
Last week, details of a proposed U.S. Peace plan shocked European allies who decried its alleged bid to have Ukraine cede land Russia has wanted. France's foreign minister, Jean-Noël Barrot, said it was equivalent to "capitulation."
Over the weekend, though, officials from both Kyiv and the Kremlin said they had made headway in negotiations through meetings with the U.S. Delegation.
Ukrainian delegate Oleksandr Bevz said after meeting with the U.S. In Geneva Sunday that the plan has already been edited to include fewer than its initial 28 points, according to The Associated Press.
Despite progress in the talks, violence continues. Overnight attacks from Russia killed at least seven in Ukraine. In Russia, a Ukrainian attack killed three people.
