Today marks a major milestone in the leadup to the 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by Canada, the U.S. And Mexico next summer.
The draw is taking place at the Kennedy Center in Washington at noon ET.
It will determine the opening group stage matchups in the newly expanded 48-team field — up from the 32 teams in previous tournaments.
That means the qualified teams, including Canada, will find out which three nations they’ll face in the round robin. (Or at least which two: six qualifiers still have to be determined.)
Balls from the competing countries will be separated into four pots of 12, and each group will include one team drawn from each pot.
