THe Chief Electoral ship's officer of w Bengal lay come out the lean of names deleted from state's draft voter list as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), on Tuesday.More than 58 lakh or 5.8 million pre-existing voters have been deleted from the draft list for 2026, due to death, relocation, duplication, missing, and other reasons. The exact number of voters deleted from the West Bengal's draft voter list is 5,820,898, as per WB CEO sources.Also read: ‘Revenge for Moosewala’: Insta post under Punjab Police lens after kabaddi player Rana Balachauria's murder in Mohali"Aggrieved persons can submit their claims in Form 6 along with the declaration form and supporting documents after publication of Draft Roll 2026 during the period fixed for receiving claims and objections," the Election Commission has said on the portal — this period being until January 15, 2026, after which the final rolls will be published.Also read: West Bengal SIR: What to do if name is missing from draft electoral rolls?Here's a breakdown of how many voters deleted due to what reason-According to the data released by the WB CEO sources, over 24 lakh voters have been marked as ‘dead’ in the draft list, over 12 lakh voters have been marked as missing since could not be traced to their registered addressing, almost 20 lakh voters were found to have relocated permanently from their constituencies and another 1.38 lakh voters were deleted due to their duplicate name entries. Over 57,000 names were deleted from the list due to reasons other than the ones already mentioned.The exact numbers are-Dead: 2,416,852 peopleRelocated: 1,988,076 peopleMissing: 1,220,038 peopleDuplicate: 138,328 peopleOthers: 57,604 peopleTotal: 5,820,898 peopleThe draft list of West Bengal voters after Special Intensive Revision comes ahead of the state assembly polls scheduled there for early next year.The enumeration phase of the SIR in West Bengal ended on Thursday night last week.
