The city joins most of Alberta under extreme weather advisories Wednesday, with officials warning of hazardous conditions on roads as the province experiences an early blast of winter.
If you’re just catching up, here’s a recap of what we know so far about how the storm blasting through the Prairies is affecting each province.

We're wrapping up our live coverage here. We'll have more on this story at cbcnews.ca.
We've just learned a few more flights from Edmonton have been cancelled and the airport here earlier accepted two diverted flights from Calgary.
Thus far, 18 flights from YEG have been cancelled. Between 18 and 20 centimetres of snow have fallen at the airport so far, according to its head communications officer.
The Calgary International Airport says 68 flights were cancelled because of today’s snowstorm.
There’s no official estimate on how many flights were delayed, due to the length of today’s temporary flight suspension and the impact of the snowstorm on other airports in the Prairies, a spokesperson for the airport said.
Calgary police say 142 crashes were reported between midnight and 4 p.m. MT today.
Of those, 16 involved injuries, 96 were non-injury collisions and 30 were hit-and-runs with no injuries, police said.
In other parts of the city, a dumpster was knocked over onto a downtown street, a tree from a resident's front yard fell into a roadway and back-alley garbage bins were tossed about in the high winds.
RCMP say the Queen Elizabeth II Highway between Calgary and Airdrie, Alta., which has been closed since around 11:30 a.m. MT, is in the process of reopening.
Northbound lanes are now open. While southbound lanes remain jammed, semi-trailers blocking the road are starting to be moved.
Blizzard conditions in Saskatoon will begin tapering off later tonight and the storm system should leave the province in the southeast by tomorrow morning, with tomorrow looking like a nicer day, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC).
But there's another blizzard on the way Friday, said Danielle Desjardins, a warning preparedness meteorologist with ECCC.
“Thankfully this next system on Friday does not look to be as potent, especially for the Saskatoon area,” Desjardins said in an interview this afternoon.
“Nonetheless, we're going to see some gusty winds and snow giving reduced visibility again on Friday.”
Desjardins said Friday’s storm could be worse in the southeast due to heavier snowfall and stronger winds.
Brent Stockbrugger braved the icy conditions in Regina this afternoon with his 15-month-old dog Nori. The shiba inu has her winter routine down to a science, Stockbrugger says, alternating between going out in frigid temperatures and heading inside to sit by the fireplace.
“She just loves it,” Stockbrugger said.
While Regina hasn’t been hit as hard as Saskatoon, the city has declared all snow routes in effect from Thursday 6 a.m. CST for 24 hours. This means no on-street parking along routes identified by a white snowflake.
First Student Canada has cancelled its bus operations for several schools across Saskatoon. In total, 11 school bus routes across the city are without service.
Many classes tomorrow in the province have already been cancelled, including at schools in the Prairie Spirit School Division around Saskatoon, and Regina Public Schools. Saskatoon Public Schools said classes will be on as normal Thursday.
I spoke with Stacey Moody, who lives in Hague, Sask., along Highway 11 around 40 kilometres north of Saskatoon. She told me it’s been "howling" wind all day with low visibility due to snow.
"There's a lot of photos and reports showing it's much worse now than earlier," she said, referring to the Facebook group about road conditions that she helps moderate.
"Sometimes people have to travel, so this page has been so helpful for so many people over the last few years."
Moody said her husband shovelled the snow only two hours ago and his work has been covered over again. Her daughter Haley was one of many students who stayed home today after school divisions decided to shut down classes.
