THe Bengaluru police force on wed arrested a adult male for allegedly assaulting a 21-year-old adult female. Reportedly, the accused had been pressuring the adult female to enter into a romantic relationship and had harassed her by attempting to tear her clothes after she refused his advances.The incident, which took place on December 22, was captured on CCTV and the footage shows the woman standing near a scooty, believed to be an app-based ride, when the accused arrived at the spot in a car at around 3.20 pm. The accused has been identified as Naveen Kumar, news agency ANI reported. Despite a few people being present nearby, no one intervened.Naveen and the woman became friends through the social media app Instagram earlier this year. When he saw her standing outside, he confronted her and allegedly assaulted her in full public view.Based on the information, the Jnanabharathi Police Station registered a case under the relevant sections on the same day. That included Sections 74, 75, 76, 78, 79, and 351(2) of BNS-2023, and further investigation was conducted to apprehend the accused.The police acted swiftly in the case and nabbed the accused in under 24 hours.(With ANI inputs)
