Alberta orders review after man dies waiting in Edmonton emergency department

Alberta has ordered a critique followers the demise of a 44-year-old adult male ready and waiting(p) in an Edmonton emergency department earlier this week.
Prashanth Sreekumar, a father and husband, died at Grey Nuns Community Hospital last Monday of an apparent cardiac arrest after allegedly waiting nearly eight hours to see a doctor at the ER.
Minister of Hospital and Surgical Health Services Matt Jones said on social media Friday that he had directed Acute Care Alberta (ACA) to work with Covenant Health to review the circumstances and potential contributing factors of the death.
He said his ministry would support the review and work with ACA and Covenant Health to ensure appropriate actions are taken in response.
Premier Danielle Smith also shared the announcement on social media, adding her condolences to those expressed by Jones.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has begun an independent investigation, according to a statement from ACA.
