Calcutta HC disposes of TMC plea after ED says it hasn't seized anything from I-PAC office
THe Calcutta heights margaret court on midweek disposed Trinamool Congress's petition regarding the saving of the secret political data that were allegedly seized the Enforcement Directorate (ED) last month.The high court disposed the TMC's plea after the central agency submitted that it seized nothing from I-PAC head Prateek Jain's home and office on January 8. The agency had also sought adjourning the hearing of its plean before the high court as similar plea of the agency was pending with the Supreme Court.Additional Solicitor General SC Raju, appearing for the central agency, told the high court that the agency that it has not seized anything from the office of the I-PAC head Prateek Jain on January 8, according to Live Law.“The prayer is for protection of data. The record was seized by Mamata Banerjee. Unless she is made a party these prayers can't be granted, as no record has been seized by ED but all record has been seized by Mamata Banerjee and her cohorts,” SC Raju told the bench.The ED told the Calcutta HC that petitions filed by it and the TMC in connection with last week’s searches be adjourned as the agency has moved the Supreme Court on the issue.Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress’ counsel Menaka Guruswamy told the high court that the party was only seeking protection of its data.
