Lady Gaga, a seven-time nominee this year, hits the stage with a performance of her hit single Abracadabra — which has already claimed three Grammy awards tonight.
Those wins include best dance pop recording, best remixed recording and producer of the year, non-classical (for Canadian producer Cirkut).
Abracadabra is from her album Mayhem, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard chart when it was released in March 2025.
Since then she has taken her Mayhem Ball tour around the world — it wraps this April in New York City after three shows in Montreal — and performed before a record-breaking performance for a female artist, in front of an estimated 2.5 million people in Rio de Janeiro last May.
Country star Lainey Wilson and actor Jeff Goldblum presented the best contemporary country album Grammy to Jelly Roll, who looked visibly pleased as he smiled and marched up to the stage.
Jelly Roll thanked Jesus and his wife for saving his life, appearing energized as he gave his speech.
"There was a time in my life I was broken. I wrote this album because I didn’t think I had a chance," he said, before thanking Jesus over and over.
"Jesus is not owned by any music label," he said, later adding "I love you Lord," before exiting the stage.
The Grammy for best contemporary country album is awarded to Jelly Roll for Beautifully Broken.
The nominees were:
Comedian and actor Marcello Hernández and Karol G presented Bad Bunny with the Grammy for best música urbana album.
The Puerto Rican star applauded before taking the stage and hugging the presenters.
He then said, simply, "ICE out" — referring to the immigration crackdown in Minneapolis and other U.S. Cities — earning rapturous applause from the crowd as the room stood up.
"We're not savage, we're not aliens, we're not animals. We are humans and we are Americans," he said.
The Grammy for best música urbana album is awarded to Bad Bunny for DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS.
The nominees were:
In boxers and socks, Bieber began playing a minimalist version of Yukon on an electric guitar.
His wife, Hailey, looked on from the crowd with a smile.
The Biebs then showed off his silky vocals over his looped guitar.
But Adele has done it twice. In 2012, she claimed album of the year for 21, while her hit single Rolling in the Deep won song of the year and record of the year. She did it again in 2017 with her album 25 and the single Hello.
Only two people in Grammy history have ever swept the Big Four: the three main awards and best new artist. That was Billie Eilish in 2020, with album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? and single Bad Guy; and Christopher Cross in 1980 for his debut album and title track Sailing.
The three most coveted Grammys for any artist are album, record and song of the year. Each comes with prestige but different people can claim the honour, not just the artist.
Here's how they're defined:
Album of the year: Per the Recording Academy, this is for either a collection of at least five different tracks that have a combined playing time of at least 15 minutes; or a recording of at least 30 minutes with no minimum track requirement. It's awarded to the whole team: artists, songwriters, engineers, mixers, etc. — anyone who contributed to at least 20 per cent of the playing time.
Record of the year: Like album of the year, this recognizes performance and production contributions, but for just a single track.
Song of the year: This award is essentially for achievement in songwriting — so it can go to just the artist, if they composed the music and lyrics themselves, or a range of writers. Justin Bieber's 2022 song Peaches holds the record for most people in a nomination in this category, with 11. This year, Kedrick Lamar and SZA's track Luther has 10 people on the nomination, ROSÉ and Bruno Mars's APT. has nine.
Dean extends the streak of women winners in the category — Chappell Roan, Victoria Monét, Samara Joy, Olivia Rodrigo and Megan Thee Stallion were the past five winners of this award.
During her speech, Dean says, "I'm up here as a granddaughter of an immigrant. … I'm a product of bravery and I think those people deserve to be celebrated.
"We're nothing without each other; thank you so much."
Fun fact about this Grammy-winning song: Man I Need was co-written by North Vancouver’s Tobias Jesso Jr.
