Canada's mixed doubles curling team is playing against Sweden in Milan right now, the first of two round-robin games today.
Brett Gallant and Jocelyn Peterman, a husband-and-wife team from Chestermere, Alta., will face South Korea next, after three consecutive losses dropped them to 3-3 in round-robin play.
The pair need victories to keep its medal-round hopes alive.
Gallant and Peterman sit tied for fifth with only four of the 10 teams making the playoff cut.
"Before training, all the skiers, we were at the top, watching on a phone to see her run. You know she's a legend when everyone wants to see her run," he said.
"She's a champion. And whether she would have won today or not, she's still the G.O.A.T. [greatest of all time] of downhill."
France's Mathis Desloges finished second in the men's 10 kilometres of classic and 10 kilometres of freestyle cross-country skiing — even after he cut the corner of a course marker in the stadium in Tesero, Italy.
The move, around the 13-kilometre mark, helped him gain several metres. Video replay shows Desloges get squeezed in the curve by other skiers all fighting for positioning along the track and cut diagonally across a course marker to stay on his feet, coming out the other side of the turn.
Lengthy jury deliberations awarded him a yellow card, allowing him to hang onto his medal.
Call him Spartacus. Call him the Hulk. Call this moment beast mode.
That's Benjamin Karl of Austria just after defending his Olympic title in parallel giant slalom.
Now that's one way to celebrate.
Pure emotion written all over his face. A lost shirt and flexing all your muscles.
Oh, and he's 40.
If you're just joining us this Sunday morning, grab a coffee and settle in. There are still many competitions to come featuring Canadian talent:
Canada's medal count stands at one (bronze in long-track speed skating).
And the moment Valérie Maltais found out after finishing her 3,000-metre race will give you all the feels 🥹.
P.S., she started skating at six years old, is now 35 and this is her fifth Olympics. This was many years in the making.
Canadian Arnaud Gaudet won his course in the 1/8 final, but did not advance out of the quarterfinal.
Canada's Xavier McKeever finished 13th in the 22-year-old's first Olympic appearance. McKeever’s parents are both Olympians. His mother, Milaine Thériault, competed at Nagano 1998, Salt Lake City 2002 and Turin 2006. His father, Robin McKeever, competed at Nagano 1998 before becoming the guide for his brother, Brian McKeever, who ended his illustrious career with 20 medals at the Paralympic Games.

None of Canada's riders in snowboarding parallel giant slalom are expected to win a medal. But it's not out of the question.
Starting with the women, Kaylie Buck earned a silver in December at a different venue in Italy for her first World Cup medal, while Aurélie Moisan won back-to-back junior world titles in 2024 and '25. On the men's side, Arnaud Gaudet picked up a silver last month for his first World Cup medal, while Ben Heldman was the junior world champ in 2022.

NHL stars arrive in Milan
Watch as Sidney Crosby and other Canadian hockey stars arrive at the Milan airport as they prepare to compete in the Milano-Cortina Winter Games. The team has its first practice on Sunday night.
As Team Canada walked into Milan's airport Sunday morning, Sidney Crosby said it was great to be here, as he came out through arrivals.
Nathan Mackinnon, who plays for the Colorado Avalanche, said it was a lifelong dream to be here.
The team was escorted by Italian police as they walked through the airport. Passengers stood to the side taking pictures of the players.
Connor McDavid wasn't on the flight; it's not clear if he is already in Milan.
The men will practice tonight and take the ice after the American team.
Their first game is against Czechia on Thursday. Crosby is set to lead the team as the sport's powerhouse looks to build on the gold-medal performance he first penned at the 2010 Winter Games — thanks to a memorable overtime golden goal — before spearheading a relentless, grinding charge to the top in 2014.
