Scores one and trails 4-3 heading into the final end. It's a huge advantage for Italy who have the lead and final stone advantage.

Captain Marie-Philip Poulin will not start against the U.S. This afternoon, Canada's Olympic Committee said in a statement hours before puck drop.

The captain, who's appearing in her fifth Olympics, was injured Monday in a preliminary game against Czechia. There's been no update on that lower body injury.

Canada's Grenier, St-Germain ski to 13th place in Olympic team combined

U.S. Power pair Mikaela Shiffrin and Breezy Johnson finished fourth in women's team combined, a disappointing result for the two decorated skiers.

They finished behind teammates Jacqueline Wiles and Paula Moltzan. 

Austria's Ariane Raedler and Katharina Huber came in first and Germany's Kira Weidle-Winkelmann and Emma Aicher took second place. 

Johnson, the downhill champion, and dominant slalom skier Shiffrin finished fourth after leading the first run.

Italy steals one in the fourth end to take a 3-1 lead. Masterful by Stefania Constantini to leave Britain's Jennifer Dodds with an impossible shot on her final stone.

Heraskevych wore his tribute helmet for his first of two training runs on Tuesday. He did not appear to be wearing a black arm band.

IOC spokesperson Mark Adams announced this morning that Heraskevych would be permitted to wear the helmet in practice — but during competition, limit "his expression of mourning" to a black arm band with no text.

There is famously a lot of pressure on Olympic host countries to perform at the Games on their territory. Italy has taken that task to heart.

It's now up to 10 medals midway through Day 4 — two golds, two silvers and six bronze medals. The country is already just one medal shy of its entire total from Turin's 2006 Olympics. 

In 1956, when the Winter Olympics were last held at Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy secured three medals: one gold and two silver. 

The record for most medals won by a Winter Games host country is 34 — from the U.S.'s Salt Lake City Games in 2002. 

Canada has a gold medal record as a host country, though. It won 14 at Vancouver's 2010 Olympics.
