The national mint of Italy is ready to repair the faulty medals of some athletes, The Associated Press reports.
Some medals' ribbons and clasps have been breaking for some athletes as they celebrate their wins.
"A limited number of medals have had a few problems," Olympic Organizing Committee spokesman Luca Casassa said in translated comments.
The committee undertook a "targeted intervention" together with the state mint in Rome that produced the medals.
"Athletes who have medals with problems are invited to give them back through the appropriate channels," Casassa said, "so that they can be immediately repaired."
Canadian figure skating pairs team Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps will be able to fulfil their Olympic dream after all.
Stellato-Dudek hit her head during a training accident just days before the start of the Games putting her Olympics in jeopardy.
But in a release sent out by the Canadian Olympic Committee Tuesday, Stellato-Dudek has been medically cleared to compete.
When she skates on Sunday, Stellato-Dudek, 42, will be the oldest female figure skater in nearly a century to perform at the Olympics.
The duo will leave Montreal on Wednesday and arrive in Milan on Thursday. That will give them two full days of practice before the short program on Feb. 15.
Meanwhile, Sweden took a clean sweep of the podium in the women's race, led by Linn Svahn.
Jonna Sundling and Maja Dahlqvist won silver and bronze respectively.
Svahn's gold was the first Olympic medal for the 26-year-old, and the second for Sweden in cross-country skiing at this Olympics, after Frida Karlsson won gold in the women's skiathlon.
The Norwegians keep winning at cross-country ski events today. In addition to the individual 20km biathlon earlier, Norway's Johannes Klaebo has taken gold in the men's sprint classic.
Klaebo claimed his second gold medal of Milano-Cortina 2026 on his quest to become the most decorated men's Olympic cross-country skier of all time.
He now has nine Olympic medals under his belt, on track to eclipse cross-country skiing legend Bjorn Daehlie, who's got 12.
Freestyle skier Maïa Schwinghammer joins Kingsbury in moguls finals after qualifying today.
The 24-year-old from Saskatoon came in sixth at 74.90 to secure her spot. Schwinghammer is competing in her first Olympics after building a steady World Cup resume that includes four career podiums, including a bronze medal at the 2025 world championships in Engadin, Switzerland.
"She's already at the top and made it here. It's just great," he said through tears. "I mean, she's worked really hard. She's healthy and strong and has a goal, and I guess her mom taught her good things."

Will Ukrainian skeleton racer still wear his banned helmet in competition?
When asked whether his racer would continue to don the banned helmet, he responded with a wink: "We'll see."
An official had warned Heraskevych that wearing the helmet violates the Olympic Charter's rule that prevents any demonstration of "political, religious, or racial propaganda" at any Olympic sites, including sport venues.
IOC spokesperson Mark Adams called the IOC's decision a "fine balance" and that tried to address the athlete's desires "with compassion." Heraskevych and his coach don't seem to agree with that characterization.
Prime Minister Mark Carney's Olympic spirit is high despite Canada's captain being scrapped from the lineup against the U.S. Women's hockey team this afternoon.
"It's a big game today and we're going to win," Carney told reporters in Ottawa on his way into cabinet as the Canadian Olympic Committee gave an update about Poulin.
Italy isn't just cooking up amazing food 🍝 🏅 — it's serving up medal after medal so far.
With the bronze just captured in mixed doubles curling, Italy's haul is up to 11 (two gold, two silver and seven bronze), matching its total from 2006's Turin Winter Games that we mentioned earlier.
The country's best ever Olympic Winter Games performance was at Lillehammer in 1994 when it won 20 medals (seven gold, five silver and eight bronze).
We're expecting an update on Canadian figure skater Deanna Stellato-Dudek soon.
At 42, Stellato-Dudek was set to become the oldest female figure skater in nearly a century to compete at the Olympics, until a training accident in Quebec on Feb. 2 put her chances of skating at the Milano-Cortina Games in jeopardy.
She and partner Maxime Deschamps withdrew from the team event last week, but Stellato-Dudek has not yet been ruled out of the individual pairs event on Feb. 15-16, with her condition being evaluated daily.
Norway's Johan-Olav Botn took gold in the 20km individual biathlon in Anterselva. France's Eric Perrot won the silver medal and Norwegian Sturla Holm Laegreid won bronze.
The sport, which originated from military training exercises in Scandinavia, is a crowd-pleaser filled with tension and drama.
The Südtirol Arena in Anterselva is an annual stop on the World Cup circuit and regular host for the World Championships.
The course sits 1,600 metres above sea level, making it the highest venue on the World Cup circuit — although it's slightly lower than the venue used during the 2022 Beijing Olympics.
Some liken biathlon to running up 20 flights of stairs and then trying to thread a needle.
Each racer carries a .22-caliber rifle on their back as they ski trails that run between 1.5 and 3.5 kilometres, depending on race format. Then they try to hit five targets 50 metres away — first in the prone position at targets the size of a golf ball, and then while standing at targets the size of a compact disc.
Racers must ski a 150-metre penalty loop or take a time penalty for each missed shot and head out for another lap.
