It's a bronze for Canada's Courtney Sarault in women's 500-metre short-track speed skating.

Dutch world record holder Xandra Velzeboer takes gold after coming out well in front in the A Final while Italy's Arianna Fontana nabs silver.

Canada's Florence Brunelle came in first place in the B Final for women's 500-metre short-track speed skating, after American Kristen Santos-Griswold fell and took out two other athletes.

Hosking sustained a shoulder injury after crashing during her last run of the women's halfpipe final, our colleagues at Radio-Canada reported.

Courtney Sarault, who also skated in the mixed relay final, is a strong medal contender in the women's 500 metres.

The 25-year-old claimed her first World Tour overall title this season after winning five events, including a 500-metre victory at the season finale in the Netherlands. She also won a silver in the 500 metres in Montreal, though none of her five career individual medals at the world championships came in short-track's shortest distance.

Only two Canadian women have advanced to the women's 500-metre short-track final. Sarault and Kim Boutin are in the A Final. Boutin earned her fifth career Olympic medal in the mixed relay and reached the 500-metre podium at each of the last two Games.

Canada's Florence Brunelle is going to the B Final.

Felix Roussel of Team Canada came out in front in his semifinal heat in the men's 1,000 metres, but lost his footing during the second last lap and allowed Korea's Jongun Rim to finish first.

That likely takes him out of the A Final, though there might be a review of those results since Roussel slipped.

Canada is showing up at the Milano Ice Skating Arena. Canadian flags everywhere — fans are dancing with it, wearing it and waving it.

There's plenty to be happy about for now, as Canada's skaters are going into the semis in good position.

Canadian speed skater William Dandjinou just finished in first place in the men's 1,000-metres semifinal.

It's gold for Gaon Choi of Korea in women's halfpipe after Chloe Kim crashes during her final run.

Kim will take silver for the U.S., while Japan's Mitsuki Ono goes home with bronze.

Hosking finished in 11th place for Canada.

This is the 24-year-old's third Olympics. She finished sixth in halfpipe at Beijing 2022 and was just 16 when she finished 19th at Pyeongchang 2018.

Felix Roussel finished first in his heat and will advance to the semifinals. William Dandjinou is through as well.

"Go Will," Dandjinou's family cheered as he finished first in the 1,000-metre quarterfinals.

Roussel and Dandjinou will compete in separate semifinal heats.

The same rules apply as with the women's 500 metres — the top two from each heat, plus two "lucky losers" with the next best times, advance to the final.

Kim Boutin is through to the semis as well. She had a photo finish but ended up in second place in her heat.

Though she was able to walk off the course, Hosking did end up needing medical attention after that pretty bad crash near the bottom of the pipe during the third run of the women's halfpipe final.

It looked like gold was a lock for American Chloe Kim in the women's halfpipe final, until Gaon Choi of Korea nailed a stellar final run and landed a best score of 90.25, putting her in the top spot.

Kim will have to improve on that score to grab that gold medal now. She's last to go in this final run.
