Of those who visited the state in 2024-25, 98.87 per cent were domestic visitors. The tourist footfall in 2022-23 was over 2.22 lakh of which 2.18 lakh were from within the country and 3,551 were foreigners, the department said. The tourist footfall in the state was minimal during the Covid-19 pandemic. It was 20,564 in 2020-21 fiscal, 1.32 lakh in 2021-22 and 2.22 lakh in 2022-23, the department said. According to officials, the footfall in the current fiscal is expected be higher than the previous years due to the opening of railway line up to Sairang near Aizawl.
