Over in Livigno, the weather has cleared for the women’s freeski big air final and competition is underway. Canada’s Naomi Urness will start sixth and Megan Oldham, who finished first in qualifiers, will go last out of 12 skiers.

The event had been delayed by more than an hour due to heavy wind and snow. 

In a performance that had all Canadians holding their breath, Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps put their Olympic dream back on track with a good performance in their free skate. 

After a tough outing in the short program and a bad fall by Stellato-Dudek in today’s warm-up the pair fought for every element. Their skate wasn’t perfect; they stumbled on side-by-side triple toeloops and downgraded their planned side-by-side triple Salchow to a double.

They won’t win a medal today but they will win the hearts of fans who have followed their remarkable story. Remember, Stellato-Dudek is 42 years old and suffered a head injury in practice a few weeks ago that almost derailed their Olympics.

They now have a total score of 192.61. There are 13 competitors yet to skate. 

I'm Briar Stewart in Milan at the figure skating rink. In their warm-up skate, Stellato-Dudek and Deschamps practised a throw and she fell on the ice and slid backwards into the padded boards. She got up and continued to practice her jumps.

According to our colleagues, the fall happened on a throw triple Salchow, which is a major element of their program.

The pairs free skate final is about to get underway at the Milano Ice Skating Arena with the Canadian team of Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps competing third.

Stellato-Dudek and Deschamps are in 14th place after a fall in yesterday's short program. It's been a tumultuous few weeks for the pair, who were close to withdrawing from the Olympics altogether because of a head injury the 42-year-old Stellato-Dudek sustained in training.

Canada's top team of Lia Pereira and Trennt Michaud are coming off a spectacular short program that has them sitting in podium-friendly third place. The reigning Canadian champions were considered a longshot for a medal coming into the Games. However, if they can pull off a performance similar to Sunday’s, they could turn out to be the big surprise of the night. They skate 14th out of the 16 finalists.

World number one German pair of Fabienne Hase and Nikita Volodin have almost a five-point lead on second-place Anastasiia Metelkina and Luka Berulava of Georgia.

The athletes are at the top of the hill, ready to drop. But the women's freeski big air final is still delayed due to blizzard-like conditions.

Officials are now saying the competition won't start before 3 p.m. ET.

Workers are blowing snow off the run-in to the jump as we await further updates about the competition.

Americans advance to Olympic women's hockey final with shutout win over Sweden

The United States advanced to a fifth-straight Olympic women's hockey final, with a 5-0 semifinal win over Sweden at Milano Cortina 2026.

The U.S. Has earned a spot in the women's hockey gold-medal game by defeating Sweden 5-0 in the first semifinal.

The Americans got goals from five different players, and a shutout from Aerin Frankel, who made 23 saves.

It's the latest win in a dominant tournament for the team. They've outscored their opponents by an astounding 21-1 over six games.

It's a semifinal loss for Sweden, but still an overall victory for the team this Winter Games. Sweden hasn't been on the podium in women's hockey since 2006 and will now play for a bronze medal.

Young stars like 19-year-old forward Hilda Svensson, who plays at Ohio State University, and 21-year-old goaltender Ebba Svensson Träff will be part of this program for years to come.

This just in: the women's freeski big air final in Livigno, Italy, has been delayed due to heavy falling snow and wind. 

Officials will provide another update about the competition in around 10 minutes.

Megan Oldham will be trying to get a second Olympic medal in the big air final shortly.  

Coming off her bronze in the slopestyle event on Monday, the 24-year-old from Parry Sound, Ont., was the surprise winner of Saturday's qualifying round, outscoring defending Olympic champion Eileen Gu of China and slopestyle gold medallist Mathilde Gremaud of Switzerland. 

Most of Oldham's success has come in the slopestyle, but she did earn a bronze in the big air at the 2023 world championships.

Canadian Naomi Urness was seventh in qualifying. The 21-year-old leads the World Cup big air standings after rattling off three consecutive medals earlier this season, including her first career gold in December in Colorado.

The winner moves on to the gold-medal game on Thursday against the powerhouse American team, which has defeated Sweden 5-0. Canada has been in every single gold-medal game since women's hockey was added to the Olympic program in 1998.

Canada outshot and outscored the Swiss team to open this tournament, winning 4-0.

Captain Marie-Philip Poulin is one goal away from setting a new Olympic record for most all-time goals. She's currently tied with retired Canadian forward (and Hockey Hall of Famer) Hayley Wickenheiser with 18 goals.

Counting down to the pairs free skate tonight. This venue has provided immense drama.
