Canada’s Oldham has won gold in women’s freeski big air. 🥇

Coming out strong, the 24-year-old Parry Sound, Ont., native clinched the gold medal before she even did her third and final run. 

Urness finished in sixth of 10 skiers, bouncing back with a solid jump in the third round. Defending Olympic champion Eileen Gu of China took silver and Italy’s Flora Tabanelli won bronze. 

"You just won gold!" Gu told Oldham with a hug after the Canadian's third and final jump.

Despite missing the podium in his Olympic debut today, Michaud saw a family promise fulfilled. He told our colleague Devin Heroux that his uncle promised him when he was 13 years old that he would throw a hockey puck on the ice if he ever performed at the Olympics.

His uncle was in Milan today and delivered. Michaud said he hopes the puck brings good luck to the rest of Team Canada.

Switzerland is back in the women's hockey game with Canada. Behind the net, Alina Müller dishes the puck to Rahel Enzler, who gets her team on the board. That’s five points in six games for Müller.

Some tense moments here in the third period with Canada up only 2-1.

Swiss goaltender Andrea Brändli has made 38 saves so far.

Japan’s Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara executed the skate of the night to climb from fifth place to the top of the podium. The pair, who train in Oakville, Ont., now add Olympic gold to their two world championship titles. 

Anastasiia Metelkina and Luka Berulava of Georgia finished 10 points back for the silver, with the favorites coming into the night, Fabienne Hase and Nikita Volodin of Germany, dropping from first to third.

Pereira and Michaud placed eighth. Stellato-Dudek and Deschamps moved up from 14th after the short program to finish 11th overall. 

Stellato-Dudek said her head injury has meant they have had limited training time over the past few weeks. At age 42, Stellato-Dudek's journey to the Olympics has been unusual, and remarkable. She returned to the sport after a 16-year break with the goal of going to the Olympics. 

When asked what is next in her figure skating career, she said she needed time to fully recover. 

"I am not sure I am done yet," she said.

Canadian pair Pereira and Michaud place 8th in their Olympic debut

After landing in third place in the pairs short program, Canadian duo Lia Pereira and Trennt Michaud finished in eighth place overall in the Olympic pairs competition at Milano Cortina 2026.

Pereira and Michaud entered the night sitting in third place after the short program but could not replicate the magic from last night. Pereira stepped out on the landing of the throw triple toe loop and Michaud fell on the side-by-side triple Salchows. Those bobbles were followed by a weird moment when Pereira fell out of the death spiral. A final score of 199.66 put them in sixth place with two teams remaining. 

Still, this young team has so much potential! They were excellent in the team event and the experience gained in Milano will be invaluable for their development.

Canada's Rachel Homan evens her Olympic record with victory over Japan

Rachel Homan's Canadian curling rink beat Japan 9-6 to improve their record to 3-3 in the Milano Cortina 2026 women's curling tournament.

Canada has also beaten Japan in women’s curling round robin. Rachel Homan and her team kept their playoff hopes alive with a 9-6 win, improving to a record of 3-3. 

The team is back in action tomorrow to take on first-place Sweden at 8:05 a.m. ET. 

As the busy afternoon continues for Team Canada, it's coming down to the nitty gritty at the pairs free figure skating final where we’ve just witnessed a beautiful performance by defending Olympic gold medalists Wenjing Sui and Cong Han of China. 

They now take over first place for the time being with a total score of 208.64. Five teams still to come including Canada’s Pereira and Michaud.

Poulin widens Canada's lead with a hard-working goal in front of the net, sliding the puck over the line as she was falling over.

It’s the kind of desperation Canada lacked against the U.S. Earlier in the tournament, and the type of heart Poulin can provide, even if she’s not 100 per cent.

That’s 20 goals at the Olympics now for Poulin.

Marie-Philip Poulin has made history. She opens the scoring against Switzerland, and in the process, smashes retired Canadian forward Hayley Wickenheiser’s Olympic goals record. 

Poulin now stands alone with 19 goals. Canada’s up 1-0, outshooting the Swiss 17-1 in the second period.

Megan Oldham of Canada receives her Olympic freeski big air gold medal

Megan Oldham of Parry Sound, Ont., is presented her second Olympic medal of the games, this time a gold in freeski big air at Milano Cortina 2026.

Oldham's gold today is Canada's first in this event since it was added to the Olympics. That year, Oldham came fourth.

Oldham won bronze in this event at the 2023 World Championships and fourth at Beijing in 2022. She earned one gold on the World Cup circuit in 2025 in big air, and finished fifth in the event at the 2025 World Championships. Oldham came back from a concussion in November to compete at these Games.

She's made history before: She became the first female to successfully complete a triple cork in a ski or snowboard event on her way to the Winter X Games big air title in January 2023 in Aspen.
