We're underway for the second period in the Canada-U.S. Gold-medal men's hockey game.

Canada's trailing 1-0 after U.S. Forward Matt Boldy opened the scoring.

Back on the day of Canada's quarterfinal match against Czechia, Edwards was at the arena without any Canada paraphernalia and started asking other Canadian fans if anyone had a spare jersey she could buy.

A man who was returning home to Canada the next day literally gave her the jersey off his back and disappeared. He told her it was his lucky McDavid jersey.

Edwards is wearing it to the game today, hoping it brings Canada good luck in the Olympic final, but would love to return it one day — once it hopefully helps secure a gold medal first, of course.

Let us know, kind Canadian fan, if you're out there at home in Canada watching, cheering — and perhaps wanting a gold medal good luck charm returned.

One area of improvement for the Canadians heading into the second period: the faceoff circle.

It's been an issue for the Canadians throughout this tournament. Remember the opening goal for Finland in the semifinals? That came off a lost faceoff.

Today's first period has been no exception, especially during the penalty kill.

After 20 minutes, Nathan MacKinnon is 50 per cent on the draw.

Only Bo Horvat has won more faceoffs than he's lost.

Canada will go into the second period trailing by one goal.

Matt Boldy opened the scoring for the Americans six minutes into the game.

One positive for Canada was emerging from a late-period penalty kill without taking more damage.

Shots are tied 8-8 after the first 20.

The U.S. Leads as the minutes wind down in this first period.

Canada has had several good chances, and is leading the U.S. In shots, 8-3.

But the Canadians have also struggled with puck management in their own zone.

Canada fans outnumber the Americans here. During the women's final on Thursday, there seemed to be a pretty even split when it came to which side had the most supporters.

But when the U.S. Scored the goal just now, there was still a huge thunderous cheer.

We talked earlier about Canada's hard-to-play-against third line of Brad Marchand, Sam Bennett and Tom Wilson.

Well, it's come as advertised so far. We've already seen Wilson with a massive shoulder-on-shoulder hit behind the net on American Dylan Larkin.

American Matt Boldy opens the scoring

Matt Boldy scored 6:00 into the first period, as the United States took a 1-0 lead in the Olympic men's hockey gold-medal game.

U.S. Forward Matt Boldy opened the scoring against Canada six minutes into this game.

Boldly split the Canadian defence before backhanding the puck past Jordan Binnington.

It's 1-0 for the U.S. Early on.

The crowd was roaring at the puck drop. The atmosphere is electric, tense and LOUD. Seats are packed with Canadian and American flags everywhere.

The puck has dropped. Here we go.
