Data from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) shows the breadth of the U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iran and retaliatory strikes.

The report from the U.S.-based institute suggests the combined U.S.-Israeli forces are targeting security institutions "responsible for maintaining stability and suppressing protests."

Trump’s stated aims for the attacks are to topple the country's regime, as well as destroy its military and its nuclear program.

There have been concentrated attacks in Tehran, but forces have hit several other Iranian cities.

Meanwhile, Iran's retaliation is inconsistent, the ISW said, suggesting that its forces are struggling to coordinate large-scale attacks. Iran has attacked Israeli and U.S. Military bases across the region.

Iran's Revolutionary Guard commander said the Strait of Hormuz is closed and Iran is to set any ship trying ‌to pass on fire, according to Iranian state media.

U.S. Central Command now says six U.S. Service members have been killed in action.

CENTCOM says U.S. Forces recently recovered the remains of two "previously unaccounted for service members" from a facility that was struck "during Iran's initial attacks in the region," bringing the U.S. Death toll up from four.

Iran doesn't want escalation, but also won't surrender its sovereignty, Iravani said.

He said the issue before the international community is whether a powerful state can attack another sovereign member of the UN with impunity.

"If the answer is yes, the charter is meaningless," he said.

But if the answer is no, the "aggression must be condemned and stopped."

"As long as aggression continues, Iran will defend."

Targeting Iran's leadership was an "egregious breach of international law," Iravani told the UN.

He also denounced the bombing of a girl’s primary school in Minab, southern Iran, which he says killed 165 schoolgirls. Other schools and hospitals were also targeted, he said, resulting in more deaths.

"These constitute war crimes. These constitute crimes against humanity," Iravani said.

"The United Nations cannot remain silent."

The Iranian ambassador to the United Nations condemned the U.S. Attack against Iran, calling it unprovoked.

"This was a calculated act of aggression," Amir Saeid Iravani told the United Nations Monday, adding that hundreds of civilians have died.

"This is a flagrant violation of the charter of the United Nations," he said.

"It is a direct assault on the foundations of international law."

The U.S. Embassy in Jordan posted on X that all personnel have temporarily left the embassy compound "due to a threat." It says the move was made "out of an abundance of caution."

The embassy previously posted a security alert saying it had indications that there may be "continued missiles, drones or rockets in Jordanian airspace" in the coming days.

The U.S. Military says it has struck more than 1,250 targets in Iran since Saturday.

In a separate ‌statement, U.S. Central Command said it has destroyed 11 Iranian ships.

"Two days ago, the Iranian regime had 11 ships in the Gulf of Oman, today they have ZERO," CENTCOM posted on X.

Investors and traders aren't sure what to make of the U.S.-led airstrikes in Iran. Market reaction has been fairly muted.

European stocks fell and U.S. Markets initially followed suit. But through the day, the Dow and the S&P 500 both regained lost ground.

Markets have the same questions everyone else does: What is this operation? What are its goals and how will officials know when they can start to step back?

The next couple of days could reveal more answers than the last two days. The airstrikes began on Saturday morning. Getting started was easy. Explaining the goals and actually executing them are a much more difficult task.

As the conflict continues to disrupt oil tankers from accessing the Strait of Hormuz, oil and gasoline prices have ticked up — and some Canadians filling up their gas tank today might notice they're paying a few extra cents at the station.

By Monday morning, retail pump prices had ticked up to 135.3 cents per litre — higher than the 128.8 cents per litre seen a month ago and lower than the 151.4 cents per litre seen a year ago, according to data from GasBuddy.com.

How long could elevated prices last? Rory Johnston, an oil markets researcher, said it depends on how long the strait is closed: "If we're talking hours or days, this is mostly a blip and the market can get over it. Weeks or months, this is obviously a much more serious factor."
