The minister said at the time of her conversation with her colleague in Oman this morning, that country still had "viable" airspace.
"I requested use of that airspace, if necessary, for Canadian citizens to get out," she said.
To date, the government has not announced any plans for repatriation flights.
Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand did not accompany Carney on the Australian leg of his trip and instead flew back to Canada. Fresh off the plane, she delivered a noon-hour keynote speech and took questions from a business audience in downtown Toronto.
The minister was asked how she and the prime minister reacted in Mumbai when they heard about the start of the bombing campaign. Anand mentioned several things in her answer: Canada's longstanding opposition to Iran's nuclear program; its severed diplomatic ties over Iran's state-sponsored terrorism and human rights violations; and the Canadian government's concern for civilian lives and civilian infrastructure as attacks escalate.
"Our top priority right now is the 100,000 Canadians who are in the region," Anand said, adding she had been on the phone with foreign ministers from Middle East countries in between her meetings in India, making sure Canadians are supported across the region.
In response to Trump's threat to cut off all trade, the government of Spain says the U.S. Must be mindful of the autonomy of private businesses, international law and bilateral trade agreements between the U.S. And the European Union.
Trump delivered the threat earlier today after Spain refused to let the U.S. Military use its bases for its operation against Iran.
Spain later said it had the necessary resources to contain the potential impact of a trade embargo and support affected sectors, but said it would continue to push for free trade and economic co-operation with its partners.
An official with the U.S. State Department says the government is helping nearly 500 American citizens arrange travel out of Israel.
Speaking on background, the official said the state department has helped more than 130 American citizens depart Israel so far, with an additional 100 citizens expected to leave today.
Canada's embassy in Israel told Canadians that sheltering in place "may be your safest option," as Iranian missiles continue to hit the country.
For those who wish to leave, the embassy says to make sure you can do so safely.
The Israeli Ministry of Tourism is operating buses to the Menachem Begin border crossing between Eilat and Taba, Egypt, which is open 24/7, it said.
"The Canadian Embassy cannot make any recommendation [for or against] these buses," it said in a post on X today.
The embassy noted it remains unclear when Ben Gurion International Airport will reopen, but flights will be limited once it does resume operations.
France has defence agreements with Qatar, Kuwait and the U.A.E., and will show solidarity with them, Macron said in his address to the nation.
Jets, anti-aircraft systems and radar were deployed in recent hours and will continue, he said. France will send defence systems to Cyprus, he added.
Macron has ordered the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle to be deployed to the Mediterranean Sea, Reuters notes.
"Faced with this unstable situation and the uncertainties of the coming days, I have ordered the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, its air assets, and its frigate escort to set sail for the Mediterranean," he said.
Amid war in Iran, minister says Canada's energy role 'even more important'
Energy and Natural Resources Minister Tim Hodgson said Tuesday that Canada's 'position in the world as an energy and natural resources superpower' is more important after the U.S. Launched an attack on Iran over the weekend.
While taking questions in Toronto, Canada’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Tim Hodgson said the war in Iran is "very disturbing and distressing to many of us."
"What it absolutely means for our position in the world as an energy and natural resources superpower is [that] we are even more important today than we were before the weekend."
Hodgson took questions after his speech at the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada conference announcing funding for 22 new mining projects.
Hodgson said allies see Canada as "a stable, reliable, predictable, values-based producer of energy and critical materials, in a world where there are very few countries that meet all of those criteria."
He said Canada has an "opportunity for us to make very clear to all of our allies," that Canada is the place for investors looking for a "producer that will not use energy or critical minerals for economic coercion."
French President Emmanuel Macron is speaking now. He says France cannot approve the military actions by the U.S. And Israel in Iran.
Conflict is spreading in the region and carries serious consequences for peace and security, he said.

The International Paralympics Committee says it’s concerned some delegations might miss the opening ceremony for the Paralympics due to travel disruptions following the attacks on Iran.
The Milano-Cortina Paralympic Games run from March 6 to March 15. The opening ceremony will take place at Verona's ancient Roman arena, about 170 km east of Milan.
"The closure of airspace in the Middle East is impacting the arrival of some stakeholders.... We are working diligently with Milano Cortina 2026 to find solutions for those affected," the IPC said on Tuesday.
The president of the Italian Paralympic Committee warned that the situation risked overshadowing a key moment for athletes travelling from around the world to compete in Italy.
"The situation is truly worrying and unfortunate. The impacts of this war could be manifold," the committee's president Marco Giunio De Sanctis told Reuters.
From a logistical standpoint, most athletes should already have arrived. However, De Sanctis said there were concerns that the escalating conflict involving Iran could overshadow the message of the Games.
"It is a great shame, because none of the athletes deserve this after making so many sacrifices to get here."
French President Emmanuel Macron is scheduled to make an address about the situation in the Middle East at 8 p.m. Local time, or 2 p.m. ET.
Macron held separate meetings with leaders of Cyprus, Lebanon, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and the autonomous region of Kurdistan, the Élysée said on Tuesday, without giving further details, reports Reuters.
