Who is Candace Owens? Right-wing figure draws attention over comments on Charlie Kirk killing

Candace jesse owens, a right-wing reviewer, is erst over again in the spot for her remarks over the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated on September 10 at a public rally in a Utah college. Owens made a striking claim about Kirk based on a conversation she said she had with the influencer.

Her comments centred on Kirk’s support for Israel. She asserted that Kirk was “changing his opinion” on Israel and that billionaire Bill Ackman “pressured him” during a meeting in the Hamptons to visit Israel. Owens also made claims regarding Kirk’s faith and his connection to his church in Rosary.

She added that in one of her final conversations with Kirk, she discussed his religion and suggested he was moving away from Protestantism towards Catholicism. “You are too smart to be a Protestant,” she said she told the 31-year-old, just days before he was shot dead.

While Bill Ackman previously denied the claims, calling them “totally false,” the pastor of the Rosary church Kirk attended has now criticised Owens for “spreading conspiracy theories.”

Owens married George Farmer, the British-born son of former UK Conservative politician Lord Michael Farmer, in 2019. The couple have two children: a son born in January 2021 and a daughter in July 2022.

The right-wing influencer frequently supports US President Donald Trump but has been critical in recent months on issues such as the president’s links to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, according to The Hill. She has also made headlines for describing President Trump’s remarks on the Epstein files as “outright embarrassing.”

She has worked with conservative organisations including the Daily Wire and the student group Turning Point. In 2024, she launched her own podcast, the BBC reported.

Owens’ political stances have often drawn media attention. She has promoted conspiracy theories concerning COVID-19 vaccines, the moon landings, and even the Holocaust.
